Pousada Irmãos do Mar is a small inn for a stay built around the coast rather than a long list of hotel facilities. You wake up in Ilhabela, step out towards the beach, and have restaurants, bars and island activities close at hand. That makes it a sensible base if your ideal evening involves a shower, a swim, something cold to drink by the sea and dinner within walking distance. Families can stay here too, while couples have the option of a sea-view or balcony room when the room itself matters almost as much as the beach outside.

WiFi is free throughout the property, and the rooms have air conditioning for the practical business of recovering from a hot, salty day. There is also an outdoor pool when you want water without sand, current or a boat schedule.

The pousada sits directly opposite Praia de Itaguaçu in Ilhabela, on Avenida Almirante Tamandaré. The beach is across the road, so your route from room to sea is short and refreshingly uncomplicated. Praia do Perequê and Praia do Itaquanduba are each about 250 metres away, with Praia do Engenho D’Água around 800 metres from the door.

You are not tucked away from useful evening options. Dona Bella is about 200 metres away, while Cura and O Caminho da Pizza are each roughly 550 metres away. Restaurants and bars are nearby, and leisure and tour companies are about 400 metres from the pousada. That is enough local infrastructure to avoid turning every meal into a transport exercise.

Ilhabela’s historic centre is about 2 km away, and the ferry point is around 3 km away. For a change of scenery, Parque Estadual de Ilhabela is about 2 km away, with Baepi’s Peak and Cachoeira da Toca also within reach by car. Ubatuba Airport is about 49 miles away by road.

The room choice is mainly about how much space you need and whether the view earns its place in your plans. Couples can keep things straightforward with a double room, or choose the sea-view option when watching the water from bed matters more than squeezing every last bit of value from the booking. A balcony room gives you outdoor space of your own, which is useful for sitting down with a drink while the island gets on with its evening.

For three people, the triple room combines a double bed with a single bed. The two-bedroom apartment is the practical family choice, sleeping up to five with a single bed, double bed and bunk bed. It gives you more room to spread out than the compact double rooms, though there is one bathroom for the apartment.

Every room has air conditioning, a TV, a minibar, a wardrobe or closet and a private bathroom with shower. The minibar means cold water is available when you return tired and thirsty; the air conditioning takes care of the part where the Brazilian heat follows you indoors. Non-smoking rooms are available, and balconies and sea views depend on the room you choose rather than appearing everywhere by magic.

Breakfast is a daily buffet served in the breakfast room and included with the stay. You get fresh fruit, breads, cakes, cold meats, juice, milk, coffee and hot and cold drinks: a useful spread before a morning out, rather than a token coffee and a biscuit pretending to be breakfast.

The pousada does not present a restaurant or bar of its own, so the evening meal is part of the local setting. Dona Bella is about 200 metres away, and O Caminho da Pizza is roughly 550 metres away; Cura is at a similar distance. You can therefore leave the beach, change, and walk out for dinner without making the night depend on a car.

Food restrictions can be discussed with the pousada in advance. There is no stated half-board or all-inclusive arrangement, so your main meal plans are best made around the nearby restaurants and the rhythm of Ilhabela rather than around a hotel dining timetable.

The outdoor pool is available when you want an easy hour in the water without heading back to the beach. It is the straightforward post-dive option: no kit, no timetable and no grand expedition required. The beach across the road gives you the alternative of calm sea, a drink and the sunset described by the pousada itself.

Ilhabela also supplies the more active alternatives. Snorkelling, sailing and boat trips are available in the area, while the pousada’s activity programme covers walks, waterfalls, calm beaches and trails. You can keep the day gentle or make it properly physical; either way, the coast and the Atlantic Forest remain the main attraction rather than an indoor entertainment schedule.

For a land-based day, excursions towards Cachoeira da Toca, quieter beaches and local trails give you somewhere to go when you are not diving, eating or sitting by the pool. Cultural outings are also available, and the Cultural Centre of Ilhabela is about 2 km away. The historic centre, Pier 151 and Ilha das Cabras extend the list when you want a little more movement.

Check-in runs from 14:00 to 22:00, and you need to tell the pousada your expected arrival time. Check-out is by 12:00. A photo ID and credit card are required at check-in, while cash is an accepted payment method. The front desk is open 24 hours, but the stated check-in window still matters if your journey runs late.

Private parking is available on site, and parking is also described as available in a garage. WiFi is free throughout the property. Early check-in and late check-out can be arranged at reception, subject to availability and the property’s conditions.

Children of any age are welcome, although children aged six and over are charged as adults. Cots and extra beds are not available, so the existing sleeping arrangements matter when you choose a room.
