MANURII Garden - Adults Only is built around the useful pleasures of a diving stay: somewhere to cool down, a bar beside the pool, a garden to sit in and a room with air conditioning when the Caribbean has done its work. The adults-only setting keeps the tone aimed at grown-up travellers, with no children staying at the property and a minimum check-in age of 18.

You can choose between a quiet spell in the garden, a swim in the infinity pool or a cocktail at the pool bar. English and Spanish are spoken by the hotel team, so you can deal with the practical business of arrival, plans and island life without resorting to elaborate hand signals.

You are in Utila, Honduras, on the seaside and close enough to the beach for the walk to be part of the day rather than a logistical exercise. White-sand beach access is given as 50 metres from the hotel, while Chepes Beach is around 0.3 miles away on foot. Bando Beach is about 0.8 miles away by distance, or roughly 1.1 miles along the walking route.

Sandy Bay is around 0.4 miles away on foot, and Rock Point is about 0.8 miles by distance, with a walking route of roughly 1.1 miles. For a meal beyond the hotel, Munchies Cafe: Chill & Grill is about 0.3 miles away on foot. Utila is the setting here: beach, island walks and nearby places to eat, rather than a large mainland resort complex.

For two adults travelling together, the Double Room with Balcony is the straightforward choice: a double bed, private bathroom with shower, garden view and outdoor space for letting the room breathe while you work out whether the day calls for another swim or a horizontal position. The Quadruple Room with Balcony is the practical option for up to four adults sharing, with two double beds rather than a sofa-bed compromise.

Air conditioning matters when you return warm, salty and pleasantly worn out. A fan, parquet flooring, wardrobe, clothes rack and a seating area cover the unglamorous details that make a room work over several diving days. Free WiFi is available throughout the hotel, and the private bathroom comes with towels and a shower.

Upper floors are reached by stairs only, which is worth keeping in mind if your knees have opinions about luggage. The adults-only policy also means no cots or extra beds, so choose the room around the adults actually travelling rather than hoping to rearrange the furniture later.

The Garden Restaurant serves international food outdoors, with breakfast, lunch and dinner available. Breakfast comes as a buffet and is included in the stay, giving you a proper starting point before heading out rather than leaving the first meal of the day to chance.

There is one bar: The Pool Bar. It specialises in cocktails and sits beside the main pool, which is exactly where a bar earns its keep when the alternative is walking several hundred metres in search of something cold. The dress code is casual, so your post-dive wardrobe need not involve anything more ambitious than clean shorts and a shirt.

The main pool is outdoors, reserved for adults and fitted with an integrated bar. An infinity edge, sun terrace, outdoor furniture and a lush garden give you several places to stop moving without having to retreat indoors. There is also a picnic area and an outdoor fireplace for a change of scenery when the pool has had enough of you.

Yoga classes offer a gentler way to uncoil after a day in the water, while massages are available when stretching feels like an unnecessarily ambitious project. The hotel also offers kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkelling, boat excursions and equipment hire, so you can stay on the water without turning every activity into another full diving day.

A tour desk and concierge service can help with island discovery and snorkelling excursions. That leaves you with a sensible choice: do a little, do something on the water, or claim a sun lounger and defend it with quiet determination.

Check-in runs from 3pm to 6pm, and you need to tell the hotel your expected arrival time. Check-out is from 8.30am to 11am. The minimum check-in age is 18, matching the adults-only policy; children are not accommodated, and cots or extra beds are not available.

Private parking is free on site, and WiFi is free throughout the hotel. You can also use luggage storage, a reception safe, laundry, car hire, concierge assistance and the tour desk. Private check-in and check-out are available, which keeps the arrival process a little more direct when you have island transport and luggage to coordinate.
