Only Blue Diving Dreams

Only Blue Diving Dreams is situated on San Salvador Island in the Bahamas, specifically within the Club Med Columbus Isle. The centre operates in a region defined by the third largest barrier reef in the world, offering access to a vast marine reserve protected since 2015.

The local topography is diverse, ranging from open lagoons and coral plateaus to dramatic vertical walls that drop to 35 metres before a steep slope extends beyond 100 metres. You will find a landscape shaped by caverns, faults, chimneys, and tunnels, providing varied environments for every level of experience.

The centre is affiliated with PADI, CMAS, and IANTD, catering to a wide spectrum of divers from those taking their first breaths underwater to highly trained technical divers. The instructional team is composed of certified professionals who undergo specific training on-site by specialised doctors.

Safety is a central pillar of the operation. A diving doctor is available on-site at all times, and the facility benefits from the presence of a hyperbaric chamber located within the Club Med premises. The team is trained to manage emergency situations with a full range of medical kit, including oxygen therapy and stretchers on the boats.

The training programme is extensive, covering the full range of PADI and CMAS certifications. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving, Scuba Diver, or the Bubble Maker programme, progressing through Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver.

For those looking to specialise, the centre offers courses in Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Navigation, Deep Diver, Wreck, and Search and Recovery. There is also a strong focus on conservation through PADI Coral Reef Conservation, PADI Sea Turtle Awareness, PADI AWARE Shark Conservation, and PADI Dive Against Debris.

Technical training is a significant part of the offering, with IANTD and PADI Tec courses available. This includes IANTD Sidemount Diver, Essential Tek Diver, Advanced Nitrox Diver, and Technical Diver, as well as the PADI Tec series ranging from Tec Basic through to Tec 50.

The centre operates two catamarans, each with a capacity for 35 divers. These vessels facilitate morning departures for two successive dives and afternoon departures for a single dive.

On board, you will find refreshments including water, fruit, sandwiches, and snacks to sustain you between dives. The boats are fully equipped for safety, carrying oxygen, first aid kits, and stretchers. For those looking for something different, sunset dives and private boat charters are also available. Both vessels are equipped to support Nitrox and rebreather diving.

For those not bringing their own kit, the centre offers premium Scubapro rental equipment. This includes the latest models to ensure reliability and comfort during your dives.

Technical divers will find specific support for more advanced configurations. The centre provides rental of twinset cylinders (2x S80), sidemount cylinders (2x S80), and deco or bailout tanks (Al S80 or S40). Specialized technical kit such as twinset harnesses, sidemount harnesses, and double regulators is also available for hire. For rebreather users, CCR sets (2x 3/2L) and Sofnolime are provided on-site.

The marine life around San Salvador is abundant and diverse. On the reefs and walls, you will regularly encounter groupers, barracudas, and various tropical fish. Sea turtles and rays are also common residents of these waters.

For those watching the more open areas, sharks are frequently sighted, along with trumpetfish and spiny spider crabs. During certain times, you may also be fortunate enough to see hammerhead sharks and spotted eagle rays.

The reef structure itself is a vibrant habitat, supporting a healthy population of corals and sponges that provide shelter for the local inhabitants.

The diving conditions on San Salvador are generally favourable, with the western part of the island providing shelter from the wind. This allows for many drift dives and easy boat returns.

Visibility is excellent, reaching up to 60 metres in many areas. The waters remain warm throughout the year, making the island a reliable destination for year-round diving.
