As a centre with deep roots in the local community, they are also active in marine conservation and local initiatives. The staff are trained to handle a variety of diving styles, from beginner Discover Scuba Diving sessions to complex IDC instructor training programmes.

Divetech offers one of the most extensive training catalogues on Grand Cayman, covering all levels of certification through PADI and SSI. Beginners can start with Open Water Diver or Discover Scuba Diving, while those looking to progress can move through Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster levels.

The centre is a significant hub for technical training, offering specialised courses such as TEC 40, Nitrox, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, and Sidemount. They also provide instructor-level training through the IDC, as well as specialised instructor ratings for EFR and Oxygen provider courses.

The marine life around West Bay is exceptionally diverse, ranging from large pelagics to intricate macro life. On the walls and reefs, you will frequently encounter various species of turtles, including green and hawksbill, alongside large tarpon, barracuda, and groupers. The vertical walls often host eagle rays and various shark species, including Caribbean reef sharks and nurse sharks.

The reef architecture is built upon a rich foundation of corals and sponges. You will see a vast array of brain coral, fire coral, star coral, elkhorn, and staghorn, alongside colourful gorgonians and massive sponge formations that create complex habitats for smaller residents.

For those with an eye for detail, the macro life is abundant. The crevices and sandy patches are home to nudibranchs, various shrimps, and cleaning shrimps, as well as octopuses and garden eels. You can also find blennies, gobies, and various species of crabs and snails amongst the reef structure.

Conditions in West Bay are generally calm, particularly around the Lighthouse Point house reef. Most sites experience low to moderate currents, though the North Wall and East End sites can vary more significantly.

While the area is accessible year-round, the period from June to November coincides with the Atlantic hurricane season. Most divers find the spring months to be particularly pleasant for visiting the North Wall.
