Off The Wall Divers

Off The Wall Divers has been a mainstay of the Grand Cayman diving community since the early 1990s. While the island has seen many changes, this centre has maintained its focus on providing personalised, small-group excursions that prioritise the diver's experience over sheer volume.

Based at the Atlantis Dive Center in George Town, the operation is designed for divers who value quality time underwater. By keeping their fleet small and their groups intimate, they ensure that you can enjoy extended bottom times and sufficient surface intervals for safe, relaxed second dives.

The team is led by owners Mike and Amanda, who uphold the high standards established when the centre first opened over thirty years ago. The staff are non-smokers and highly experienced, with a philosophy rooted in a genuine love for the ocean.

Safety and guidance are central to their approach; you will find an instructor or Divemaster in the water during every dive. This ensures that whether you are a novice or an experienced diver, you have professional support nearby. The centre operates in English and maintains a professional yet relaxed, fun-loving atmosphere on the boats.

The centre provides a comprehensive range of training through PADI, SSI, and SDI affiliations. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or work through their Open Water and Advanced Open Water certifications. They also offer Open Water Referral programmes for those looking to complete their training elsewhere.

For divers looking to specialise, the curriculum includes Deep Diving, Navigation, Wreck Diving, and Enriched Air Nitrox. They also host specialised courses in Photography, Fish Identification, and Search & Recovery, alongside Refresher courses for those returning to the water.

The centre operates two Parker day-boats, each approximately 28 to 30ft in length and powered by a 300hp Mercury engine. These vessels are designed to reach the island's best sites efficiently, with a capacity for up to eight divers, though they typically carry around six to ensure a comfortable environment.

On board, you will find dry storage for your belongings and fresh ice water to stay hydrated. The boats are used for a variety of trips, including day dives, night dives, and private charters for two, three, or four tanks.

For those who prefer not to carry their own kit, a full range of equipment is available for hire, including BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, masks, fins, and snorkels. Dive computers are also provided to help maximise your bottom time.

Nitrox is available for those looking to extend their no-decompression limits, and the centre provides Nitrox cylinders as part of their service. The centre also offers a valet service for your equipment to make your transition from land to boat seamless.

The walls and reefs are teeming with life, including large species such as Great barracuda, tarpon, mackerels, and various species of turtles. You will frequently encounter spotted eagle rays and southern stingrays on the sandy bottom or cruising the water column.

For those interested in macro life, the crevices and reef structures host a variety of invertebrates. Look out for colourful starfish, orange corallimorphs, nudibranchs, and various species of lobster and eels.

Fixed life is abundant across the sites, with a healthy presence of hard corals, wire corals, and various sponges providing the essential architecture for the reef. You may also spot boxfish, hammerhead sharks, and various species of grouper and snapper among the reef formations.

The West Side offers some of the most consistent conditions on the island, providing excellent diving almost every day of the year due to its leeward position. For those seeking the North Wall, the best window is between June and September when the seas are flat and the winds are calm.

In the winter months, from November to May, the South Side Wall becomes a primary focus as it provides protection when weather fronts move through. Visibility across the main wall sites is generally excellent, typically ranging between 20m and 30m.
