Tortuga Divers

Tortuga Divers operates out of Georgetown, providing access to the most varied underwater landscapes in the Cayman Islands. The centre focuses heavily on the East End, an area renowned for its complex topography and high biodiversity.

You will find yourself navigating everything from vibrant coral reefs to dramatic drop-offs and historic wrecks. The area is also known for its unique geological formations, including caves and swim-throughs that add a sense of adventure to your dives.

As an affiliate of PADI, the centre provides a structured environment for both recreational and professional training. Being part of the Red Sail Sports group, they benefit from a long-standing reputation in the local diving community, having received the PADI Longevity Award.

Tortuga Divers offers a complete range of PADI training programmes. For those just starting, they provide the Open Water Diver course, as well as the Open Water Diver Referral option for those looking to complete their certification elsewhere.

More experienced divers can progress through the Advanced Open Water Diver course or pursue various PADI Specialties to refine specific skills. The centre is equipped to handle all levels of training, from initial entry to advanced skill development.

The centre provides full equipment hire for divers who prefer not to travel with their own kit. This includes essential items such as regulators, BCDs, and wetsuits, as well as fins and masks.

For those planning to explore the East End after dark, torches are available for hire to assist with night dives.

The East End is a haven for large marine life. You will frequently encounter various species of sea turtles, including the Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) and the Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas). The sandy areas and reef edges are also home to Southern stingray (Hypanus americanus) and Spotted eagle ray (Aetobatus narinari).

Large predators and reef residents add excitement to the dives, with Barracuda (Sphyraena) often patrolling the walls. You might also spot the Green moray (Gymnothorax funebris) tucked into the reef structure or Lionfish cruising the currents.

The reef itself is a colourful landscape of corals and sponges that provide the foundation for the ecosystem. These structures support a vast array of tropical fish, creating a dense and active environment for every dive.

Diving in the East End often involves navigating moderate currents, which is a characteristic of the region's topography. These currents can make drift diving an engaging experience, particularly along the walls and wreck sites.
