Choose the Bahamas for Exumas reefs, walls, wrecks and shark trips. Cuba is known for Jardines de la Reina, while the Cayman Islands, Turks and Caicos, the British Virgin Islands and Sint Maarten offer walls, reefs and wreck diving. The Dominican Republic is the specialist choice for humpback whale encounters by snorkel.

Most Caribbean liveaboards operate throughout the year. Great hammerheads at Bimini are seen from December to April, while humpback whales gather at the Silver Bank roughly from January to March or April.

The lowest listed price in the region starts from £1,638$2,189€1,956. The final cost depends on the country, boat, cabin and itinerary, and may exclude marine park fees, nitrox, equipment hire, transfers and crew tips.

Depending on the route, Open Water may be sufficient, or you may need Advanced Open Water and a minimum of 30 or 50 dives. Check the exact requirements for your chosen itinerary before booking.

Departure ports include Nassau and Freeport in the Bahamas, Tortola, George Town on Grand Cayman, Júcaro in Cuba, Puerto Plata, Philipsburg, Providenciales and, for some Bahamas shark trips, Florida.

There is no diving on the final day, leaving at least 24 hours before flying. Most trips offer three or four dives a day, and dive insurance is strongly recommended.
