Nautilus

Located in Koungou, Nautilus Plongée provides access to the expansive and biodiverse waters of the Maore lagoon. Established in 2014, the centre has become a local fixture for those looking to explore the unique marine environments of Mayotte.

The club operates with an FFESSM affiliation, ensuring a structured approach to both recreational exploration and formal training. Whether you are looking for your first experience in the water or are an experienced diver seeking to explore the local reef systems, the centre is positioned to facilitate your time in the lagoon.

The centre is led by Olivier, known locally as Yeye, who maintains a family-oriented and welcoming atmosphere for all divers. This small-scale approach helps foster a sense of community among the regulars and newcomers alike.

Instruction and guidance are provided in French. The club is open from Tuesday to Sunday, allowing for flexible scheduling throughout the week for those staying on the island.

The centre offers a range of training programmes, starting with introductory 'Baptême' dives for those completely new to the underwater environment. These sessions are designed to build confidence in a controlled setting.

For those looking to progress through formal certifications, the club provides structured training courses. These programmes allow you to build your skills and move through the levels of underwater proficiency.

The centre operates a 7-metre Capelli semi-rigid boat, powered by a 200hp Yamaha engine. This vessel is designed to carry up to 12 divers, making it suitable for both small groups and larger parties.

On board, you will find a wide console and bench seating for comfort during transit. The boat is also equipped with a freshwater shower, allowing you to rinse off after your dives before heading back to the pier.

For divers travelling without their own gear, Nautilus Plongée offers a complete rental service. This includes wetsuits, BCDs (stab jackets), regulators, fins, masks, computers, and weights.

All rendezvous points are organised at the Mamoudzou pier, where the boat is ready for departure.

The diving environment in the Maore lagoon is characterised by tropical conditions, with water temperatures typically ranging between 25°C and 32°C. The lagoon's geography provides a unique setting for exploration within a large, enclosed marine system.
