The atmosphere is shaped by the outdoor spaces. You can move from the lounge to the terrace, take a swim, or settle at Le Bar with its view over Kaweni. This is an adults-only address in practical terms: children are not allowed, and check-in starts at the age of 18. The result is a straightforward option for a couple or a solo diver who wants a calm place to return to, with a few places to sit rather than a long list of resort facilities.

La Residence is in Mamoudzou, Mayotte, at Route de la geole in Kaweni. Its position is between the urban area and the countryside, in a neighbourhood described as quiet and authentic. That gives you a more residential setting than a hotel directly on the coast, with the practical side of Mamoudzou still within reach.

The nearest listed beach is Mtsanga Hamaha Beach, about 1 mile away and roughly 5 minutes by car. Plage de Trévani and Mtsanga Koungou Beach are each around 2.8 miles away, while Mtsanga Trévani Beach is about 3 miles away. You are therefore close enough to reach the sea without staying on it; a car or arranged transport will make the beach circuit considerably easier than relying on a heroic post-dive walk.

Pointe Mahabou is around 2 miles away, and the Dzaoudzi–Pamandzi International Airport is about 4.5 miles from the hotel, with the road journey taking roughly half an hour. Ravinala Restaurant sits about 50 metres away, while other named restaurants are around 1.8 miles from the property.

For two people, the room choice is mainly about how much space and bathroom comfort you want rather than about squeezing in extra beds. The Standard Double Room is the compact option for a couple travelling light. The Standard Studio gives you more room, while the Superior Studio is the easier choice when you want a little more breathing space between the bags, the clothes and the bed.

The Maisonette is designed for one guest, as is the Standard Single Room. That makes them the logical choices for a solo diver who would rather keep the accommodation budget under control than pay for space used only by an empty second half of the bed. Family rooms are available in the hotel’s facilities, but the booking policy does not allow children, so the wording is worth checking carefully before you reserve.

Air conditioning is provided in the rooms, which matters when you come back warm, salty and ready to sleep rather than admire the architecture. Free toiletries and towels are available, and daily housekeeping keeps the room in order during the stay. Bathroom arrangements differ between categories, so check the selected room carefully instead of assuming that every studio follows the same layout.

The garden and terrace add room to spread out, while the lounge provides an indoor alternative when you have had enough sun.

Yoga classes are available for a slower stretch after the water, and the games room brings billiards and board games into the mix. It is a modest set of diversions, but that may be precisely the point: enough to fill an hour without turning your recovery day into a programme of compulsory activities.

Hiking is also available as a land activity. For a couple, the useful combination is the pool, the terrace, a drink at Le Bar and a short outing towards the nearby beaches or Pointe Mahabou. The hotel also has laundry and ironing services, which are less exciting than yoga but considerably more useful when wet kit and travel clothes begin to take over the room.

Check-in runs from 14:00 to 21:30, and you need to tell the hotel your expected arrival time in advance. Check-out is from 06:00 to 11:00, which covers an early airport departure or a morning start without requiring a negotiation with the clock.

The airport is Dzaoudzi–Pamandzi International Airport, around 4.5 miles away, with a road journey of roughly 31 minutes. Free public parking is available nearby without reservation, and street parking is also available. If you are driving, that is a useful detail; if you are arriving by air, arrange the final leg to Kaweni before landing rather than assuming that the hotel runs an airport shuttle.
