Adriatic Diving Center

The Adriatic Diving Center is a modern PADI 5 Star Resort situated on the Istrian peninsula in Croatia. Positioned within the Valkanela campsite, the base sits only 20 metres from the Adriatic Sea, providing immediate access to the water for shore dives or easy transfers to the boat.

From this base, you can join daily expeditions to some of the region's most significant underwater sites. The local waters are home to a dense concentration of historic wrecks, diverse reef systems, and underwater caves, making it an ideal destination for those looking to expand their logbooks.

The centre is run by a professional team of five instructors with extensive international diving experience. They provide instruction in several languages, including Polish, English, German, Croatian, and Italian, ensuring clear communication during training and briefings.

As a PADI 5 Star Resort, the centre maintains high standards for both recreational and professional training. Whether you are completing your first certification or working towards your Divemaster credentials, the team focuses on safety and technical proficiency.

The centre offers a comprehensive range of PADI courses for every stage of a diver's development. Beginners can start with Intro Diving, PADI Scuba Diver, or the PADI Open Water Diver course, with subsequent paths leading to the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and Rescue Diver certifications.

For those looking to specialise, the centre provides PADI specialty training including Nitrox Diver, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Night Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, and Underwater Navigator. Professional divers can also undertake the Divemaster programme on-site.

The centre operates a professional dive boat powered by twin 400KM engines, designed to reach offshore sites efficiently. The vessel is equipped with GPS, a pinger, and protection against rain and heavy swell to ensure comfort during transit.

On board, you will find facilities including a toilet and sun shading. The boat is prepared for various types of diving, including night dives and wreck expeditions to sites such as La Longa, Eufemia, and the many wrecks scattered across the Adriatic.

The shore-based facilities include a dedicated technical room equipped with a Coltri Sub compressor, providing both air and Nitrox. For those using Nitrox, the centre can provide blends up to 32%, or higher concentrations between 33% and 36%, with oxygen-rich fills available for those requiring specific percentages above 36%.

Full kit hire is available, featuring high-quality equipment from Scubapro, Tusa, Aqualung, and Cressi. The inventory includes 60 cylinders in various volumes, including 5L, 10L, 12L, and 15L. There is also a spacious guest room with lockers provided for secure equipment storage.

The Adriatic seabed is a rich tapestry of fixed life, with many sites featuring colourful sponges, sea anemones, and various types of algae and corals. In the rocky areas and canyons, you will find a variety of gorgonians and sea fans that provide structure for the local ecosystem.

Macro life is abundant in the crevices and sandy patches. You can regularly encounter octopuses, scorpionfish, crabs, and lobsters (Homaridae) hiding amongst the rocks. Seahorses and various species of molluscs are also present in the more sheltered reef and meadow areas.

In the open water and around the wrecks, schools of fish are a constant presence. You may also spot squid, conger eels (Congridae), and various species of snapper or sea bream, including Diplodus vulgaris, patrolling the structures.

The best time to dive in this region is from April to September. During these months, the local sites offer a variety of environments ranging from shallow coastal reefs to deeper offshore wrecks.

While the area features many sheltered spots, the boat trips are designed to handle the local sea conditions, and the vessel is equipped to manage swell and weather changes during transit to offshore sites.
