This is a sensible choice if you want the sea close by but also like having somewhere to sit outside, make coffee and keep food cold. Families have plenty to occupy them, from the kids' club and playground to the children's pools and entertainment programme. For couples, the beach bar, evening music and the short run into Rovinj give the place a little more range than a campsite where the day ends at the barbecue.

You are on the coast near Rovinj in Croatia, around 3 miles from the town. The campsite sits directly beside its own natural beach, with pebbly and rocky sections, areas of natural shade, sun loungers and parasols. The beach carries Blue Flag status and is part of the property, so a swim does not require a taxi, timetable or expedition involving unsuitable footwear.

Rovinj's old town, heritage museum, aquarium and Casa della Batana ecomuseum are around 3 to 4 miles away. Punta Corrente Park is about 3 miles from the site, while Monkodonja Hill Fort is roughly 2 miles away by road. Polari Beach is about 1 mile away, and several other beaches sit within a few miles if you fancy a change of shoreline.

The immediate area gives you useful stops as well as outings: Cocaletto is about 1 mile away, and the Smoljanci railway station is around 8 miles away. Pula, with its Roman Arena and other ancient monuments, is about 22 miles from Rovinj and makes a straightforward day trip by car.

The accommodation is arranged as mobile homes, all on the ground floor with a private entrance and a furnished terrace with outdoor furniture and deck chairs. Air conditioning matters here for more than comfort: it gives you a cooler place to recover once the day has involved salt, sun and too much neoprene. A mosquito net, heating and a drying rack are also provided, along with linen and towels.

Couples can look at the two-bedroom options when a little separation and storage matter more than having a single open-plan room. The Mobile Home Superior View is the obvious category to investigate if the outlook is part of your decision. Families of four have three-bedroom choices, including the Family Three-Bedroom Mobile Home - Oasis, with two bathrooms; that second bathroom is useful when everyone is working to the same post-beach timetable.

Every mobile home combines a fully equipped kitchen with a dining table and seating area. You have a refrigerator for cold drinks, a microwave and stovetop for simple meals, kitchenware and a coffee machine, plus a sofa bed and satellite television. Two bathrooms, each with a shower, make the return from the beach less of a queue. Free WiFi covers the site, although the recorded WiFi rating is lower than the scores for the physical facilities, so it is wise to treat the connection as useful rather than build your holiday around it.

Three restaurants cover the main meals, with lunch and dinner at each of the named venues. Basilico Pizza Pasta works with Istrian flavours as well as pizza, including black truffle and Adriatic anchovy toppings, followed by semifreddo. Local wines and beers keep the regional thread going without turning dinner into a lecture about regional produce.

Lovor Real Grill is the place for local cheese and wine, nearby craft beer, steak, sausages and grilled fish, with Istrian extra virgin olive oil doing its proper supporting job. Kapula Burger Bar takes the less formal route: burgers with Istrian bacon, local goat cheese and crispy onion rings, alongside local wines and beers from nearby microbreweries. The continental buffet breakfast gives you a straightforward start before the day gets moving.

There are three named bars. Tuffo Splash Bar is beside the pool and serves cocktails, juices, beers and snacks; Delfina Beach Bar handles drinks by the shore and the sunset view; Rosemary Bread & Deli, on the central square, combines bakery, café and snack bar for pastries and food to take away. A bar, a beach and something edible within reach: not a complicated system, which is exactly the point when you are hungry.

The main outdoor pool is a 550-square-metre freshwater pool with a depth of 1.35 metres, giving you room for a proper swim or an unambitious float. A separate freshwater children's pool sits beside it, and the Spray Park adds a diving pool, water playgrounds and another children's pool. The pool bar is on hand when the sensible plan is to move from the water to a cold drink without going very far.

The direct beach gives you a different sort of afternoon, with rocky and pebbly areas, natural shade, loungers and parasols. On land, you can hire bicycles, cycle around the area, play table tennis or beach volleyball, join a walking tour, or use the games room. Water activities include canoeing, snorkelling, jet skiing and other on-site water-sport facilities, with equipment rental available.

The programme is not limited to daytime exertion. Yoga classes, massage, live music, evening entertainment and themed dinner nights are available, while families can use the kids' club, playground, trampoline and children's outdoor play equipment. If you are travelling with children, they can be occupied without turning every adult hour into a logistics meeting.

Check-in runs from 15:00 to 22:30, and check-out is from 07:00 to 10:00. You need photo identification and a credit card at check-in. There is no age requirement for check-in, while guests under 18 can check in only with a parent or official guardian. Children of any age are welcome, and a cot can be requested for children aged 0 to 1 year.
