Located on the beautiful Val di Bora beach, Rovinj Sub serves as a gateway to the diverse marine environments of the Adriatic. The coastline around Rovinj is characterised by steep cliffs and relatively shallow waters that host a surprising variety of underwater topography, from submerged caves to extensive reef systems.

Whether you are looking to explore historic shipwrecks or navigate through sun-drenched swim-throughs, the centre is positioned to provide access to the best of the region. The proximity to the historic centre of Rovinj makes it a convenient base for those looking to combine diving with the local culture and gastronomy.

The team consists of four professional instructors and guides, with a strict ratio of maximum two divers per guide to ensure close supervision and safety. This high level of attention is particularly beneficial for those working through certification levels or tackling more demanding sites.

Safety is a core component of their operation, with all staff members trained in first aid and oxygen provider protocols. They also offer specialised training in DAN Basic Life Support (BLS) and Oxygen Provider courses for both divers and non-divers.

Rovinj Sub offers a complete progression of SSI training, starting with the Open Water Diver and progressing through to Advanced Open Water Diver. For those looking to deepen their technical knowledge, they provide Deep Diver and Wreck Diver specialities.

Beyond traditional scuba, the centre has a strong focus on freediving, offering SNSI Level 1, Level 2 Advanced, and Level 3 Deep Freediver courses. They also provide essential safety training through DAN Oxygen Provider and Basic Life Support (BLS) programmes.

The centre operates a fleet of six vessels to reach various dive sites. This includes a regular dive boat, the Emilija, the Pauk, and the Drin, as well as two semi-rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) for quicker transfers to closer sites. The Bora Bora is also part of the fleet, ensuring there is always a vessel suited to the day's itinerary and dive locations.

The shore-based facilities have been recently renovated to provide a modern environment for divers. For those needing to rent equipment, a full range is available, including wetsuits, regulators, BCDs, dive computers, compasses, gloves, hoods, and boots. They also stock torches for night diving.

A robust compressor system is on-site with a capacity of 1100 litres per minute, featuring an integrated Nitrox charging station. Divers can choose between 10-litre and 15-litre steel cylinders, and Nitrox is available in 28-32% blends, with higher concentrations available by the litre.

The marine life around Rovinj is diverse, with many sites acting as artificial reefs that attract a steady stream of fish. You will frequently encounter various species of small fish and bottom-dwelling fish moving amongst the rocks and wrecks.

Macro life is a highlight for many divers, particularly on the wrecks and reef edges. Keep an eye out for scorpionfish, lobsters, and various species of starfish and molluscs tucked into the crevices of the seabed.

The benthic environment is rich with life, including various sea plants, anemones, and sponges that cover the rocks. On the sandy patches and reef flats, you can also find various shells and other small invertebrates.

Conditions vary depending on the chosen site, with some areas experiencing strong currents. Specifically, the Rubinum Reef and the area around the Faro lighthouse (Sv. Ivan na pučini) are known for having significant current, making them better suited for experienced divers.

Night diving is also an available option, allowing you to see the local fauna in a completely different light.
