Cala Sinzias Resort is a four-star seaside base in Castiadas, designed for guests who want the beach close, a proper choice of places to eat, and enough on site to keep the non-diving hours occupied. English, German, French and Italian are spoken by the hotel team, so you can discuss the useful things without resorting to underwater hand signals at reception.

The resort has 218 rooms, a large outdoor swimming pool, gardens, a Wellness Centre and direct access to a golden sandy beach. That gives you a fairly straightforward rhythm: breakfast, sea or pool, something cold to drink, then dinner. Couples can keep the day simple; families and groups have more space and more services to work with, including family rooms, a children’s club and babysitting.

You stay in Località Cala Sinzias, Castiadas, on Sardinia’s south-east coast. The resort sits directly beside Cala Sinzias beach, with loungers and parasols on the sand. The beach is the main geographical fact here: no shuttle, road crossing or tactical deployment of beach bags is needed before you reach the water.

Cala Monte Turno is about 1.3 miles away on foot, while Cala Pira is around 1.5 miles away by car. For a meal away from the resort, Trattoria Pizzeria da Gianni is about 1 mile away by car, and Araxi e Mari – Ristorante Tipico is roughly 1.3 miles away on foot. Monte Minniminni, rising to 725 metres, lies about 5 miles away on foot and gives the area a land-based option when your surface interval needs to remain firmly above sea level.

Cagliari Elmas Airport is about 37 miles away by road. The resort is in Castiadas rather than in a town centre, so a hire car can be useful for reaching beaches, restaurants and inland excursions.

For two, the Double or Twin Room keeps things uncomplicated, with a king-size bed, air conditioning, a minibar, a desk and free WiFi. It is the sensible choice when the plan is to spend the day outside and use the room for what it is meant to do: give you a private bathroom, a shower, a cool place to recover and a soundproofed night.

Travelling as three or four calls for a little more thought. The Executive Triple Room suits three people, while the Two-Bedroom Suite and King Suite give families or friends more room to spread out. The Suite with Private Pool is the one to consider when stepping straight into your own water matters more than keeping the accommodation compact. Air conditioning matters on a hot Sardinian day, particularly when salt, sun and a full day outdoors have already done their work. Ground-floor, wheelchair-accessible units are available, with accessible bathroom features in the relevant accommodation.

Two restaurants give you a choice between Sardinian cooking and international dishes. Il Bergamino Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in an open-air setting, with Sardinian specialities on the menu. La Terrazza Restaurant covers lunch and dinner on its terrace, with international cuisine for the evenings when you want something familiar rather than a culinary expedition.

Breakfast is a buffet served from 07:30 to 10:30, with continental, Italian, vegetarian and gluten-free options. Half-board is available, so you can build the stay around breakfast and dinner while keeping lunch flexible. Breakfast can also be taken in your room, which is useful when the timetable starts earlier than your appetite.

There are two bars. The Pool Bar handles cocktails and snacks beside the swimming pool; the American Bar, in the lobby, does the same indoors. A snack bar, room service with limited hours, fruit and wine or champagne round out the practical choices. The bar is therefore not merely a place to wait for dinner: it can cover the short version of lunch, the post-beach drink or the familiar moment when nobody wants to make another decision.

The large outdoor swimming pool is the obvious place to spend a non-diving morning or to let the day wind down without returning to the beach. The pool is not heated, but the sea is directly outside and the sun terrace gives you somewhere to settle with a book, a drink or the sort of conversation that does not require a dive plan.

For recovery rather than entertainment, the Wellness Centre offers massages and beauty treatments, while the gym gives you a way to move without committing to a full excursion. The gardens and beach loungers provide the easier option. Sometimes the correct activity is staying horizontal and refusing to call it an itinerary.

There is more for couples and families who want to leave the sun lounger behind: bicycle hire, walking tours, local culture tours, cycling and hiking. Kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkelling, canoeing, horse riding, fishing, windsurfing and boat excursions are available through on-site or external activities as specified. Live music, evening entertainment and themed dinner nights add something after dark, while the children’s club, children’s pool, outdoor play equipment, children’s menu and babysitting give families their own timetable.

Check-in runs from 15:00 to midnight, and check-out is by 10:00. A 24-hour front desk, private check-in and check-out, concierge service and luggage storage make arrival and departure easier, particularly if your flight and room timetable do not line up neatly. An airport shuttle is available and can be arranged with the hotel. Car hire is also available, which is worth considering in this coastal location, especially if you want to explore more than the beach directly outside. Children of any age are welcome, although children aged three and over are charged as adults. Cots and extra beds are not available, so the room’s existing sleeping arrangement matters when travelling with children. Pets are not allowed. The resort also has wheelchair-accessible units and bathroom facilities, and room service is available within limited hours.
