Mandel Diving Center

Mandel Diving Center is situated in the Mandel Residence, positioned right on the sands of Morcone beach in Capoliveri. This strategic location on the island of Elba allows you to reach the most interesting underwater sites in just a few minutes of navigation.

The centre is designed for comfort and convenience, providing a spacious area for organising your equipment, hot showers, and a dedicated classroom. After your dives, you can relax in the dining area or take advantage of the nearby beach services provided by the residence.

The team consists of seven qualified instructors, ensuring professional guidance for all levels of experience. They are a multilingual group, capable of conducting training and briefings in Italian, English, German, Spanish, and French.

As a PADI affiliated centre, they offer a comprehensive curriculum ranging from initial student certifications to professional development. For those interested in the local environment, they also organise excursions within the Pianosa marine park led by guides registered with the Tuscany regional register.

The training programme covers the entire PADI spectrum, starting with Discover Scuba Diving and the Bubble Maker programme for younger divers. For those beginning their journey, they offer Scuba Diver, Open Water Diver, and Advanced Open Water Diver courses.

More experienced divers can specialise through various PADI specialties, including Nitrox Diver, Deep Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, and Dry Suit diving. The centre also provides training for professional progression, including Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, and Open Water Scuba Instructor levels, alongside EFR and Rescue Diver certifications.

The centre operates three different vessels to guarantee calm sea conditions for your dives, regardless of the weather. This fleet includes a fiberglass ex-fishing boat, a fast RIB, and a fiberglass ex-dinghy.

The boats have a total capacity of 17 divers. Depending on the vessel, you will find various motorisations including an AIFO 220Hp, a SUZUKI 250Hp, and an MCH 16 Coltri. For full-day trips, snacks and drinks are provided on board.

The centre is a Cressi Sub partner, offering a full range of high-quality equipment hire that has been recently renewed. This includes everything you need for a complete setup, from regulators to wetsuits.

On-site facilities include a dedicated classroom for theory work and a comfortable area for relaxing between dives. For those staying longer, the centre also provides hot showers to rinse off after your sessions.

The marine life around Elba is diverse, particularly within the protected zones. You can expect to see various large species including groupers (Epinephelus), common dentex (Dentex dentex), and amberjack (Seriola) patrolling the reefs. Large predators like great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda) and eagle ray (Aetobatus) are also part of the local ecosystem.

The rocky structures and reefs are beautifully adorned with red gorgonians and yellow sponges, providing a colourful backdrop for the resident fauna. You will often find scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae) camouflaged against the seabed, alongside various species of moray eel (Muraenidae) and conger eel (Congridae) tucked into crevices.

For those interested in smaller inhabitants, the area hosts various crustaceans such as spiny lobster (Palinuridae), lobster (Homaridae), and spider crabs. Look closely near the reef flats and ledges to find more subtle life including sea fans (Gorgoniidae) and various species of eel (Anguilliformes).

The centre's use of three different boats positioned at three different points across the island is a practical approach to managing local sea conditions. This allows the team to select the best departure point to ensure the sea remains as calm as possible for your dives.
