Talas Diving Center

Talas Diving Center has been operating on the southern coast of Elba since 1993. Situated in Lido di Capoliveri, the centre is positioned just 100 metres from the sandy beach and offers immediate access to the most significant dive sites within the Tuscan Archipelago National Park.

The location serves as an ideal gateway to the surrounding islands, including the highly protected waters of Pianosa. Because the centre is well-established and holds PADI 5 Star status, it is equipped to handle everything from introductory dives to professional training and extended stays.

With over three decades of experience in the region, the team at Talas Diving Center provides a professional environment for both recreational and training divers. The centre is organised around a modern structure set within a quiet garden, providing a relaxed atmosphere between dives.

As a PADI 5 Star centre, they offer a comprehensive curriculum. Whether you are looking to start your journey with a Discover Scuba Diving session or progress through the professional ranks toward Divemaster, the instruction is structured to meet international standards.

The training programme at Talas covers the full spectrum of PADI certifications. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the Scuba Diver course, eventually progressing to Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver.

For those looking to advance their skills or career, the centre provides Rescue Diver and Divemaster training. This structured approach ensures that divers can build their confidence and technical ability within the local environment.

The centre operates a fast, spacious, and comfortable boat designed for day trips and double dives. It is capable of carrying 12 divers at a time, making it easy to navigate the waters around Elba and the nearby islands.

Onboard, you will find facilities for comfort during longer transits, including lunch provided during the trips. For those looking to extend their bottom time, Nitrox is available and can be recharged directly on the boat.

The centre is set up to make life easy for divers on extended trips. You can leave your kit mounted on the boat throughout your stay, as there are covered spaces available to keep your equipment secure and out of the elements.

Shore-side, the facility includes a parking area and a modern, organised setup. Nitrox is available on-site, and the centre is equipped to handle air and Nitrox refills to keep you diving.

The marine life around Elba and Pianosa is diverse, supported by the protected status of the national park. You will find a variety of large fish including groupers (Epinephelus), common dentex (Dentex dentex), and amberjack (Seriola) patrolling the reefs.

Predators such as great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda) and various species of moray eel (Muraenidae) are also present. On the sandy areas and near ledges, you can look for scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae), weever, and different types of eels (Anguilliformes).

The seabed is rich with macro life and crustaceans, including large lobsters (Homaridae), spiny lobster (Palinuridae), and spider crabs. You may also encounter various species of sea fan (Gorgoniidae) and red gorgonians decorating the structures.

Fixed life is abundant, with yellow sponges and various corals providing a colourful backdrop to the dives. The presence of large groupers and various species of bream adds to the life found amongst the reef structures.

The centre is located on the southern side of Elba, providing access to the diverse marine environments of the archipelago. Divers should note that access to the protected sites at Pianosa is subject to specific schedules and is only available on three days of the week.
