This aparthotel sits in a fully renovated family property with 31 rooms and suites spread across four floors, giving you the space of a suite-based stay rather than the feel of a large holiday complex.

English and French are spoken by the hotel team, so you can deal with the practicalities without resorting to hand signals after a long travel day. The reception, lounge and coffee shop keep the tone easy-going, while air conditioning, soundproofing and a 24-hour front desk cover the less glamorous but genuinely useful parts of a stay.

Rue du Lac Léman places you in Les Berges du Lac 1, the business district of Tunis. This is an urban base rather than a beach address: Salambo Beach is about 5 miles away by car, with the coast reached in roughly ten minutes. The airport sits close by too, at around 3 miles by road, which is the sort of geography that makes an early departure considerably less theatrical.

You have cafés and restaurants within easy reach, including Salon de Thé Times at less than 0.1 mile and Éric Kayser, les Berges du Lac, at about 0.3 mile. The Medina, Bab El Bhar – Porte de France and Victory Square are around 5 miles away, while the Salammbo Tophet Archaeological Museum and Carthage’s historic sites are also within roughly 5 miles by car.

Free private parking is available on site, with reservation required. An airport shuttle and a wider shuttle service can be arranged through the hotel, and car hire is available if you want to make your own way towards Carthage, the coast or the city’s museums.

The useful distinction here is between a straightforward room and a proper suite. Travelling alone, the Single Room keeps things simple. For two, the Superior Double Room gives you more room to spread out than the standard double, while the Twin Room is the sensible choice when sharing with a dive buddy and neither of you wants to negotiate bed territory at midnight.

The Executive Suite and Family Suite make more sense when you need separate sleeping arrangements and somewhere to sit. The Family Suite sleeps up to five, while the Executive Suite sleeps up to four, with a king-size bed and sofa bed. These are the options to consider when you are travelling with family or simply prefer not to live out of a suitcase on the bed.

Every unit has air conditioning, a kitchenette, balcony, desk and free WiFi. The kitchenettes include a hob, microwave, electric kettle and kitchenware, useful for keeping water, fruit or a simple post-dive snack close at hand. A minibar and tea-and-coffee-making facilities add another small convenience. Breakfast is a buffet served in the indoor Restaurant, where the kitchen follows a continental style. It is available from 6:30 to 10:00, giving you a useful early start before a day out, although the hotel does not present it as a dedicated diver’s breakfast. Lunch and dinner are also served, so you can eat in without turning every evening into a logistical exercise.

The restaurant seats 60 guests and is on the first floor. Its role is practical rather than showy: a proper place for the main meal, with the option of room service when you would rather stay in your suite and let the day catch up with you.

For the gentler end of the evening, The Corner sits by reception. It is a coffee shop serving coffee and mint tea, with a selection of books from the library. There is one named bar space rather than a parade of lounges, which suits a hotel designed as a city base. A minimarket on site covers the small things you forgot to buy before retreating upstairs.

There is no need to manufacture a programme here. The sun terrace and outdoor seating give you somewhere to sit with a coffee, while the shared lounge and TV area offer a cooler fallback when the Tunisian afternoon has done enough. After a day out, that modest choice can be more useful than a long list of activities you never intended to try.

The Corner’s library adds a quiet option for an hour with a book, and board games and puzzles are available for a slower evening. Live sports broadcasts provide the predictable alternative when the group cannot agree on a film. A bicycle can be rented, and the tour desk, concierge and car-hire service can help shape a day beyond the hotel.

Families have access to family rooms, babysitting or child services and board games. The property is wheelchair accessible, with accessible facilities and a lift, while daily housekeeping and laundry services help keep a longer aparthotel stay under control.

Check-in runs from 14:00 to midnight, and you need to tell the property your expected arrival time in advance. Check-out is by 12:00. The 24-hour front desk is useful when flights do not respect office hours, while luggage storage gives you somewhere to leave your bags around the edges of the stay.

The airport shuttle is available to arrange through the hotel, and the journey from Tunis–Carthage Airport takes around ten minutes. Shuttle services and car hire are also available. If you are driving, free private parking is on site, with a reservation required.
