Life Aquatic Freediving and Yoga Center

Located in the coastal town of Kaş, Life Aquatic Freediving and Yoga Center offers a specialised approach to underwater exploration. While many centres in the Antalya region focus on Scuba, this facility is built around the discipline of freediving, treating apnea as a way to connect deeply with the marine environment.

The centre is led by Adnan Yanbay, an experienced instructor with a background as a Divemaster in Turkey and instructor roles in Thailand and Indonesia. He holds several high-level qualifications, including SSI Freediving Instructor Trainer, PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, and SSI Advanced Open Water Instructor.

The instructional team includes Fezi, Yasemin, and Murat, all of whom are qualified SSI Level 2 Freediving Instructors. This ensures a high level of technical expertise across the various training programmes. The centre maintains a ratio of three divers per guide to ensure safety and personalised attention during training sessions.

As an SSI affiliated centre, Life Aquatic offers a comprehensive progression of freediving certifications. The curriculum begins with Basic Freediver and Pool Freediver courses, moving through to SSI Freediver (Level 1), Advanced Freediver (Level 2), and Performance Freediver (Level 3).

For those looking to professionalise their skills, the centre provides advanced training including the Master Program and pathways to become a Freediving Assistant Instructor, Basic Freediving Instructor, or Freediving Specialty Instructor. Specialist training is also available for Monofin techniques and Free Immersion. Safety is a core component of the curriculum, with REACT RIGHT training available covering First Aid, CPR, AED, and Oxygen Management.

The centre provides a full range of equipment for hire, covering the essential kit required for freediving and training. This includes fins, masks, and wetsuits to ensure you are fully equipped for your sessions on the shore or at local sites.

Training often takes place at the Life Aquatic House, a dedicated site located directly in front of the school. This allows for regular, convenient practice in the immediate coastal area.

The marine environment around Kaş is characterised by clear waters and diverse habitats. You will encounter various predator fish and groupers (Epinephelus) patrolling the deeper sections of the canyon and around the wrecks.

In the rocky areas and near the sculptures, look for octopus (Octopus vulgaris) and various moray eels (Muraenidae). The seabed and reef structures also host eagle rays (Aetobatus) and other larger pelagic visitors.

Macro life enthusiasts can find interesting species such as the coconut octopus tucked into crevices. The underwater landscape is shaped by the local topography, providing numerous hiding spots for smaller crustaceans and reef dwellers.

The diving season in Kaş runs from April to November, with sunny days often extending into December. The water is noted for being generally fresh due to underground freshwater springs, which contributes to the excellent visibility in the area.

While the water is clear, divers should be prepared for moderate currents, particularly when exploring the Kaş Kanyon. The accessibility of depth from the shore makes it a versatile location for both training and exploration.
