Global Dive

Located at 52 Remuera Road in Auckland, Global Dive serves as a central hub for the New Zealand diving community. The centre is built to support a wide spectrum of divers, from those taking their first breaths underwater to advanced technical divers running complex rebreather or trimix profiles.

As an SSI and TDI affiliated centre, they maintain a strong focus on both recreational progression and technical expertise. The facility is designed to be a one-stop shop, offering everything from equipment servicing to specialised gas blending for those heading out on more demanding expeditions.

The team at Global Dive operates with a focus on personalised attention, maintaining a ratio of a maximum of six divers per guide. This ensures that whether you are working on buoyancy or navigating a complex wreck, you have the necessary support from your instructor or guide.

Instruction is provided in English, covering a vast syllabus that ranges from entry-level certifications to advanced technical specialties. For those requiring more bespoke support, the centre also provides dedicated services for superyachts, including private training and guided dives.

The training programme is comprehensive, covering the entire SSI and TDI spectrum. Beginners can start with Open Water Diver or Snorkel Diver, while those looking to advance can progress through Advanced Open Water Diver, Deep Diver, and Stress & Rescue Diver. Specialized skills are also taught through courses like Perfect Buoyancy, Night & Limited Visibility Diver, and Dry Suit Diver.

For technical divers, the centre offers a robust curriculum including Intro to Tech, Wreck Diver, CCR Extended Range, and Divemaster training. They also provide essential safety certifications such as React Right Emergency Oxygen Provider and React Right First Aid & CPR.

The centre's shore-based facilities are geared towards both convenience and technical precision. For those needing a full rental rig, they provide a complete package including mask, fins, snorkel, wetsuit, BCD, regulators with computers, weights, and two cylinders. They are also one of the few providers in New Zealand offering a fleet of drysuits for hire.

Technical divers will find a well-equipped shop with high-end kit, including Aqualung Legend LX regulators with Shearwater computers, OMS Smartstream and Scubapro X-One BCDs, and Scubapro Seawing Nova fins. For more advanced configurations, they stock backplate and wing systems from Halcyon and OMS, twin sets, stage cylinders with dedicated regulators, and DPVs.

Gas blending is a core service, with the ability to fill Air, Nitrox, Oxygen, Trimix, and Heliox. An experienced technician with over 16 years of experience is on hand to provide equipment servicing to ensure your kit is mission-ready.

The marine life across the various sites visited by the centre is exceptionally diverse. In the subtropical waters of the Poor Knights, you can encounter a wide variety of reef fish and larger inhabitants. The area is noted for its complex structures, including tunnels and arches that provide habitat for numerous species.

In the tropical regions of the Philippines and Fiji, the scenery is dominated by lush soft corals and hard corals, creating a vibrant underwater landscape. You will find various species such as reef fish, moray eels, and turtles navigating the reefs and walls.

Macro divers will find plenty to observe, particularly in the 'muck' diving sites of Dauin or the 'critter' sites in Fiji. These areas are home to a wealth of smaller life, including nudibranchs, seahorses, frogfish, and various species of shrimp and crabs. You may also encounter ghost pipefish, pipehorses, and various types of octopuses and cuttlefish.

Diving conditions vary significantly depending on the location, from the subtropical reefs of the Poor Knights to the tropical atolls of the Maldives. In the Maldives, divers should be prepared for the presence of currents when exploring the channels and pinnacles.

The Poor Knights Islands offer a range of environments, including caves, arches, and open reefs, which can vary in exposure to swell and current depending on the specific site being visited.
