Pro Dive - Plettenberg Bay

Pro Dive has been a mainstay of the Plettenberg Bay diving scene for over two decades. Situated at the Beacon Island Hotel on Beacon Isle Drive, the centre has established a reputation for reliable, professional operations in the Garden Route region.

The centre is uniquely positioned to offer encounters with the local Cape fur seal colony. They are the only local operator that hosts scuba divers, snorkelers, and boat-based observers on the same vessel, ensuring a shared experience of the marine environment.

The team is composed of professionally trained PADI guides who lead both scuba and snorkelling excursions. Their focus is on safety and providing a structured experience when interacting with the local seal populations.

Communication is straightforward for international visitors, as the team is proficient in English, German, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. This multilingual approach makes navigating the logistics of a dive trip seamless for a wide range of divers.

While the centre is primarily recognised for its seal encounters, they offer various underwater experiences. These include specialised scuba diving sessions with the seals and guided snorkelling adventures led by PADI professionals.

The centre operates specialised boats designed specifically for comfort and a smoother transit to the dive sites. These vessels feature extra enveloping seats to provide more space and a more relaxed navigation experience compared to standard local boats.

To accommodate different levels of engagement with the marine life, the boats are configured to carry divers, snorkelers, and observers simultaneously. This allows for a multi-faceted approach to observing the seal colony from the water.

Full equipment hire is available on-site, including high-quality 5mm wetsuits maintained in excellent condition to ensure warmth and comfort in the local waters.

The centre's facilities at the Beacon Island Hotel are well-equipped for post-dive needs, providing hot showers, changing rooms, and lockers for your personal belongings.

The primary draw of this area is the Cape fur seal colony. These animals are highly active and can be observed through scuba diving or snorkelling. You may also find younger seals present in the water during March.

Beyond the seals, the marine environment supports a variety of local species that inhabit the coastal waters of Plettenberg Bay.
