Nautilus Isla Fuerte

Located on the remote Isla Fuerte, Nautilus Isla Fuerte serves as a gateway to some of the most pristine coral reef ecosystems in the Colombian Caribbean. Established in 2021, the centre is positioned to provide access to underwater environments that remain largely untouched by heavy tourism.

The resort operates as an all-inclusive destination, meaning your stay, meals, and diving are integrated into a single experience. This setup is designed to make the logistics of visiting a remote island straightforward, allowing you to focus entirely on the reef and the marine life it supports.

The team is led by Eduardo Flores, an instructor with over 20 years of experience in the industry. Supporting the diving operations is Catalina, a biologist with a specific expertise in coral health, which informs the centre's approach to reef exploration.

Environmental stewardship is central to how the centre operates. The team is actively involved in marine conservation efforts, including working with local authorities to protect the Bushnell reef, regulating fishing practices, and managing invasive species through dedicated PADI Lionfish Hunter training.

The centre provides a full range of PADI training, starting from the Open Water Diver course through to Advanced Open Water Diver. For those looking to progress their professional career, they offer Divemaster training and Emergency First Response instruction.

Specialised training is also available, including Nitrox courses to extend your no-decompression limits. The centre also hosts specific sessions for the PADI Lionfish Hunter specialty, focusing on the management of invasive species in the local ecosystem.

The reefs are home to a diverse array of large pelagics and reef residents. You can expect to encounter nurse sharks (Ginglymostoma cirratum), sea turtles, and dolphins during your dives. Schools of snapper (Lutjanus) and great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda) are also frequently seen patrolling the reef structure.

The hard coral architecture is the backbone of the ecosystem, providing a complex habitat for various species. You will find a variety of sponges (Porifera) and various reef fish, including parrotfish, navigating the intricate formations.

For those interested in macro life, the reef offers plenty of smaller encounters. Octopus are a regular presence among the crevices, and you can often spot stingrays (Batoidea) or rays (Batoidea) resting on the sandy patches between the coral heads.
