Dive Tribe

Located on the island of São Vicente in Cape Verde, Dive Tribe operates two distinct bases to serve the needs of divers across the island. The primary hub is situated on the north coast in Mindelo at the Sport Fishing Club Mindelo, while a second base is located on the west coast in São Pedro at the Foya Branca Resort.

Depending on the swell and local logistics, departures can be organised from either location to ensure the best possible conditions for your dives. This dual-base setup allows the team to navigate the island's varied coastline, offering everything from open ocean explorations to sheltered reef dives.

As a PADI 5 Star centre and an SSI Diamond dive resort, Dive Tribe maintains high professional standards across all its operations. The team is composed of experienced professionals dedicated to both training and guided explorations.

The centre provides a comprehensive range of educational programmes, catering to those beginning their journey and those looking to advance their technical or professional skills. Whether you are looking for introductory dives or professional development, the instructors bring a high level of expertise to the water.

Dive Tribe offers a complete curriculum of training through both PADI and SSI. For beginners, the range includes Try Scuba Diver, Scuba Diver, and Open Water Diver courses.

Advanced divers can progress through the Advanced Adventurer Diver, Deep Diving, Wreck Diving, and Drift Diving specialties. The centre also provides professional training for those aiming for Divemaster status, alongside specialized courses such as Diver Stress & Rescue, Photo & Video, Fish Identification, and Dive-Guide.

The centre operates three modern RIBs, which are ideal for reaching dive sites quickly and comfortably. These boats are well-suited for the Atlantic conditions, providing a stable platform for both drift dives and wreck explorations.

Night diving is also part of the regular programme, with the RIBs used to transport divers to sites for evening sessions.

Onshore, the centre is equipped with high-quality BAUER filling stations featuring the Securus system, ensuring a reliable and high standard of breathing air for every cylinder. They are also a MARES centre, providing divers with access to modern, well-maintained kit.

For those who prefer not to carry their own equipment, a range of rental gear is available on-site.

The waters around São Vicente are home to several larger species that divers can encounter, including sea turtles. You may also spot various reef fish such as pufferfish (Arothron hispidus), parrotfish (Calotomus), and various species of goatfish and grunt fish.

For those interested in the smaller inhabitants of the reef, the area offers excellent macro opportunities. The sandy patches and rubble near Mindelo are particularly good for finding frogfish, scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae), and moray eels (Muraenidae).

In the more detailed micro-habitats, you can find nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani) and other small crustaceans, making the area a rewarding location for underwater photography.

Diving in Cape Verde is possible all year round. The choice of departure base between Mindelo and São Pedro is often dictated by the prevailing weather and sea conditions to ensure safe and comfortable boat trips.
