Action Adventure Divers

Located in Soufrière on the southwest coast of Saint Lucia, Action Adventure Divers operates within the heart of the Soufrière Marine Management Area (SMMA). The centre is positioned to take advantage of the dramatic volcanic landscapes that define this part of the island, offering access to steep walls and underwater pinnacles.

Since its founding in 2002, the centre has built a reputation for marine conservation and education. As an official partner of the SMMA, a portion of dive fees goes directly toward reef monitoring and protection programmes, ensuring the local ecosystem remains healthy for future divers.

The centre is led by brothers Chester and Cuthbert Nathoniel, who bring over 3,000 dives of experience to the team. They focus heavily on marine life education, ensuring that divers understand the delicate ecosystems they are exploring.

As a PADI 5 Star centre, they provide a structured environment for everyone from those taking their first breaths underwater to professional candidates. The team provides instruction in English and manages a guide-to-diver ratio of 12 divers per guide.

The centre offers a comprehensive range of PADI training programmes. Beginners can start with a Resort Course or work towards their Open Water Diver certification.

For those looking to progress, they provide Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster courses. They also offer a Scuba Tune-Up for divers looking to refresh their skills before heading back into the water.

The centre operates a custom-built fiberglass dive boat equipped with twin 150 hp outboards. The vessel is designed for comfort and functionality, featuring a sun-shaded deck with a bimini and a low rear platform for easy entries and exits.

On board, you will find dedicated cylinder racks and a camera table equipped with a rinse bucket to protect your gear. The boat is capable of carrying 12 divers plus the crew for day trips and night dives.

Full equipment hire is available for those not travelling with their own kit, including BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, masks, fins, and cylinders. The centre utilises high-quality brands such as Scubapro, Aqualung, and Mares.

Safety is a priority on shore, with oxygen availability maintained on-site for all divers.

The volcanic reefs are home to a diverse array of life, including Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), parrotfish (Calotomus), and various species of reef fish. You can often spot barracuda (Sphyraena) and tarpon cruising the deeper sections of the walls.

Macro life is abundant for those who look closely. You may encounter seahorses (Hippocampus), octopus (Octopoda), various species of shrimp (Caridea), and nudibranchs. The reef also hosts several species of blenny (Blenniidae) and pipefish (Syngnathidae).

The hard and soft coral structures provide the backdrop for the area, with large barrel sponges (Porifera), gorgonian sea fans, and various types of finger coral. During the predictable coral spawning season, the reef becomes particularly active.

The area is characterised by its volcanic topography, which can influence local water movement. Visibility is generally good, typically ranging between 20 and 30 metres.

Water temperatures remain warm throughout the year, typically between 26 and 29°C.
