Dive Fair Helen

Dive Fair Helen has been an integral part of the Saint Lucian diving community since 1992. Located in Saint Lucia, the centre is owned by a local environmentalist with over 15 years of experience in marine research, ensuring that every excursion is grounded in a deep understanding of the local ecosystem.

The centre provides a professional platform for both recreational divers and those looking to begin their training. With a focus on education and safety, the team guides you through the diverse underwater landscapes of the island, from shallow reef flats to significant wreck sites.

The team is led by experienced, PADI-certified instructors who bring decades of local knowledge to every dive. The owner's history is deeply tied to the region, having contributed to the creation of the Lesleen M. wreck and the development of diving regulations in Saint Lucia.

Instruction is provided in English, and the centre is well-equipped to handle everything from initial training to advanced specialty courses. The emphasis remains on safe, educational diving that respects the marine environment.

Dive Fair Helen is a PADI affiliated centre offering a range of certifications. Beginners can start their journey with the PADI Open Water Diver course.

For those looking to advance their skills, the centre also offers various PADI specialties. The training programme is designed to build confidence and technical proficiency in the local waters.

The centre operates two custom-built dive boats: the 47-foot Burpee and the 39-foot Sea Hawk. These vessels are designed specifically for diving operations, ensuring easy entry and exit for divers.

On board, you will find essential amenities including toilets, freshwater facilities, and ample shaded areas to relax between dives. The boats are used for a variety of excursions, including reef dives, wall dives, wreck explorations, and night dives.

For those who prefer to use rental kit, the centre provides first-class equipment. This includes essential items such as wetsuits, regulators, and fins.

Shore-based facilities are designed for convenience, with dedicated areas for rinsing kit and preparing for your day on the water.

The reefs are teeming with life, including schools of Jack (Carangidae), Snappers (Lutjanidae), and various species of Grunt (Haemulidae). You will frequently encounter parrotfish, damselfish (Pomacentridae), and chromis, alongside larger pelagics like barracuda (Sphyraena) and various species of turtle (Cheloniidae).

The seascape is built upon a rich foundation of hard and soft corals, including many species of Soft coral (Alcyonacea) and Gorgonian (Gorgonacea). Large barrel sponges (Porifera) and various sea whips provide structure for the resident reef fish and crustaceans.

For macro enthusiasts, the sites offer plenty of interest. Keep an eye out for seahorses (Hippocampus), frogfish (Antennariidae), and various species of octopus (Octopoda). You may also find moray eels (Muraenidae), shrimp (Caridea), and diverse species of crabs and other crustaceans tucked into the reef structure.

Occasional sightings of larger animals include nurse sharks and, on rare occasions, whales.

Diving in the area is characterised by varying depths and terrains, from shallow reef flats to significant walls. Visibility typically ranges between 3 and 30 metres depending on the specific site and conditions.
