The team at Scuba St. Lucia brings a massive depth of experience to the water, with a combined total of over 125 years in the diving industry. This international staff is dedicated to high safety standards, ensuring that every diver receives a proper orientation and skill review on the house reef before heading out on more advanced dives.

As a PADI Universal Reference Centre, the facility is equipped to handle the full spectrum of diver progression. All dives are led by experienced Divemasters and Instructors, and the centre maintains a strong commitment to marine conservation through active programmes, including invasive lionfish removal and coral nursery restoration.

The training programme is comprehensive, covering the entire PADI curriculum. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the PADI Scuba Diver course, progressing through Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver. For those looking to advance their career, the centre offers Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, and Open Water Scuba Instructor courses.

Specialty training is extensive, ranging from technical skills like Deep Diver and Wreck to environmental courses such as PADI AWARE Coral Reef Conservation and Shark Conservation. The centre also offers niche training in underwater photography, Peak Performance Buoyancy, and even Search & Recovery. For those needing to refresh their skills, the PADI ReActivate programme is available.

The centre operates a fleet of five eco-friendly, silent catamarans designed to minimise the impact on the marine environment. These vessels are capable of carrying up to 30 divers and are powered by twin 300hp or 350hp engines, ensuring reliable transit to the offshore sites.

On board, you will find essential amenities including freshwater, safety equipment, and a DAN oxygen unit. The boats are set up to facilitate comfortable day trips, allowing you to focus on the dive sites rather than the logistics of the transit.

The shore-based facilities are well-equipped to support both recreational and technical divers. The centre operates three compressors on-site and provides Enriched Air Nitrox for those looking to extend their bottom time. For those diving with a closed-circuit rebreather, the centre is also equipped to support CCR operations.

Full rental kit is available, though the centre notes that divers needing a full set should specifically request wetsuits, as masks, snorkels, and fins are provided as part of standard dive packages. The facility also includes a dedicated underwater photography and video centre to assist divers in capturing their descents.

The marine life at Scuba St. Lucia is remarkably diverse, supported by the healthy ecosystems of the SMMA. On the reef walls and slopes, you will encounter a vibrant array of gorgonians, sea whips, and various soft coral (Alcyonacea) species. Large barrel sponges and massive brain corals form the backbone of the reef structure, providing habitats for a vast range of fish.

For those interested in macro life, the reefs offer plenty of opportunities to spot seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), octopus (Octopus vulgaris), frogfish (Antennarius), and scorpionfish. You can also find various crustaceans, including lobsters (Homaridae), crabs, and cleaner shrimp (Lysmata) tucked into the crevices of the reef.

The larger pelagic and reef fish populations are equally impressive. You are likely to see schools of jack (Carangidae), creole wrasse, and parrotfish (Calotomus), alongside more elusive species like moray eels (Muraenidae), pufferfishes (Diodon), and various types of rays. Turtles, including hawksbill turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata) and green turtles, are frequently seen near the reef and seagrass areas.

In August, the local marine life experiences a significant event with coral spawning, which can be a spectacular sight for observant divers.

Diving in this area involves a variety of topographies, from shallow reef flats to steep walls and dramatic pinnacles. While many sites are accessible via easy shore entries, others require boat transfers to reach the deeper offshore structures and wrecks.
