Caretta diving center

Caretta Diving is situated in the Bi Village tourist complex, overlooking the Brijuni National Park near the coastal town of Fažana. With over 12 years of experience in the region, the centre has established itself as a reliable base for both local reef exploration and deeper wreck dives.

The location provides easy access to the most significant underwater sites in Istria, ranging from shallow, sheltered reefs to historic maritime wrecks. Whether you are looking to complete your first certification or want to explore the deeper sections of the Adriatic, the centre is positioned to facilitate both.

The team consists of two professional instructors dedicated to maintaining high safety standards and small group sizes. They operate with a maximum ratio of two divers per guide, ensuring close supervision and personalised attention during every excursion.

The centre is affiliated with both PADI and SSI, offering a broad range of training pathways. Notably, they are HSA (Handicapped Scuba Association) certified, meaning they are equipped and trained to guide and instruct divers with disabilities.

Caretta Diving offers a comprehensive curriculum through PADI and SSI, starting from the Open Water Diver course through to advanced levels like the Advanced Open Water Diver. For those looking to specialise, they provide several specialty courses including Nitrox, Deep Diver, Shipwreck, Night Dive, Underwater Navigation, and Marine Ecology.

Professional training is also available for those pursuing a career in diving, with courses leading towards Dive Guide and Master Diver certifications. They also offer the Advanced Adventurer programme and the Perfect Buoyancy Specialty to help refine technical skills.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit for those not travelling with their own equipment. This includes BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, fins, masks, and torches for night dives. You can also hire dive computers and various cylinder sizes, including 10, 12, and 15-litre options.

Nitrox is available on-site for divers looking to extend their bottom times on deeper sites.

The reefs around the Brijuni Islands are home to a diverse range of marine life. You will encounter various species including sea bream, dentex, salema porgy, and sars, often found patrolling the rocky outcrops and reef flats.

The macro life is particularly varied, with many divers seeking out seahorses, sea slugs, and various species of colourful sponges. Red scorpionfish and moray eels are also common residents of the crevices and holes along the seabed.

In the deeper sections and along the walls, the scenery is defined by complex communities of bryozoans, red algae, and green algae. Crustaceans such as lobster are frequently spotted among the rocks, while pelagic fish can be seen in the more open waters.

The diving area around Fažana and the Brijuni Islands offers a variety of environments, from shallow, sheltered reefs to deeper walls and wrecks. Most sites are accessible to Open Water Divers, though deeper wreck dives and vertical walls require Advanced certification.
