For a longer stay, the suites give you a separate living area and two bathrooms, which is a useful bit of civilised planning when two people are unpacking, drying off and trying not to occupy the bathroom at the same time.

Gemma Di Brioni spa covers the slower end of the programme, with massages, facial treatments, a hammam, sauna, jacuzzi, mud baths and body wraps. Couples massage is available, as are a spa lounge and relaxation area. The fitness centre uses TechnoGym equipment for anyone who still believes the day needs a second workout.

Away from the water and treatment rooms, the hotel has tennis courts, miniature golf, table tennis and squash. Bicycle rental and bike tours are available, as are on-site water-sports facilities and snorkelling; these activities carry an additional charge. Sun terraces, loungers and the garden give you easier alternatives, including the perfectly respectable option of doing absolutely nothing until dinner.

Check-in starts at 15:00 and check-out runs from 07:00 to 11:00. You need photo identification and the credit card used for the reservation at check-in.
