Rio Diving Center

Located in Rio Marina on the eastern side of Elbe Island, Rio Diving Center serves as a strategic base for exploring the Tuscan Archipelago. The centre's position is particularly advantageous for divers, as it sits in a zone that offers natural shelter from the prevailing Mistral and Scirocco winds.

Operating since 2006, the centre has built a reputation for reliability through its three operational points, allowing them to adapt to changing weather conditions. Whether you are looking for a day of recreational diving or professional certification, the setup is designed to handle the specific maritime nuances of the Mediterranean.

The team is led by Beppe, a certified DIWA instructor and environmental guide, ensuring that dives are not just about the descent, but about understanding the local ecosystem. The instructors bring extensive experience to the table, with many having over 20 years in the industry.

Instruction is provided in Italian, French, English, and German, making it accessible for international divers. The centre is highly focused on the next generation, offering dedicated programmes for children aged 8 and up, including MiniSub courses and Baby-Blue Adventures.

Beyond recreational diving, the centre provides pathways for professional qualifications. They also offer specialised aquaticitity and snorkeling programmes for those looking to build foundational skills in the water.

The training catalogue is comprehensive, covering everything from initial aquaticitity and snorkeling to professional-level certifications. For those starting their journey, the centre provides the foundational courses required to move into recreational diving.

Advanced divers can pursue professional programmes, while younger divers can engage with specific developmental courses like MiniSub. All training follows the standards of their DIWA and CMAS affiliations, ensuring recognised certification levels.

The fleet consists of three vessels tailored to different needs. The Menandro is a motorboat with a capacity for up to 8 people, equipped with a cabin, toilets, a shower, and a sunbathing area. For shorter trips or specific conditions, the centre also operates two additional motorboats and a rigid inflatable boat (RIB).

All vessels are equipped with essential navigation and safety gear, including VHF radio and GPS. The boats are set up for various dive types, including night dives, allowing you to explore the island's waters after sunset.

On shore, the centre is equipped with a high-performance Bauer V 500 F compressor to ensure reliable cylinder fills. For those who prefer not to carry their own kit, a full range of CRESSI equipment is available for hire, maintained to a high standard.

Facilities include dedicated areas for divers to prepare, with the centre's technical setup designed to support both recreational and professional training requirements.
