VOI Tanka Village

Set on the coast of Villasimius, VOI Tanka Village is a large resort with 850 rooms spread across rooms, suites, bungalows and family apartments. The scale matters: you have a choice of places to eat, several bars, sports facilities, a spa and a private white-sand beach without needing to leave the grounds every evening.

English is available for the hotel’s guest information, alongside Italian, which makes planning before arrival straightforward for English-speaking guests. The atmosphere is geared towards an active seaside holiday, but you can just as easily claim a sun lounger, order a drink and let the day go quiet for a change.

Families are well catered for, with a kids’ club for children aged 3 to almost 13, children’s entertainment and a separate children’s pool. Couples, meanwhile, have the beach, restaurants and evening shows rather than a hotel that shuts down when the sun goes in.

You are in Villasimius, in southern Sardinia, at Via Degli Oleandri 7. The resort sits directly on the seafront, with its own beach of fine, pale sand, sun loungers, parasols and a beach bar. Simius Beach is around 700 feet away, while Porto Giunco Beach is roughly 0.5 miles away on the straight-line map and about 0.7 miles by foot.

Villasimius town centre is around 1 to 2 km away, depending on the measurement used, so local restaurants and the town itself are close enough for an outing rather than a logistical operation. Il Faro Villasimius is about 1,600 feet away on foot, with Simius Playa and Ristorante I Ginepri also within roughly 1.2 miles.

Cagliari Elmas Airport is about 39 miles away by road, with the drive taking around an hour. Monte Minniminni, rising to 725 metres, is roughly 13 miles away by road for a change of scenery when the sea has had its turn.

Every accommodation option has air conditioning, a fridge, satellite television and either a balcony or patio. That combination does the practical work after a hot day outside: cold water within reach, a cooler room when you return, and somewhere outdoors to sit without having to dress for dinner immediately.

For two, the double rooms keep things simple, with options ranging from king-size beds to twin beds. The Domus rooms offer more floor space than the smaller Monte categories, while the junior suites are the sensible choice when you want room to spread out rather than negotiate every bag and pair of sandals. The Casbah categories suit guests who prefer a more compact setting, with both standard and superior versions available.

Travelling as a group changes the calculation. The family apartments sleep four or five adults and give you the most useful amount of space in the range, while the larger Domus junior suite accommodates four. Triple rooms cover the middle ground with a sofa bed, but check the exact layout when booking if separate beds matter. Daily housekeeping, towels, a wardrobe and a private bathroom with shower and hairdryer are part of the practical setup.

Half board and full board are available. Breakfast is served as a buffet, with continental, Italian, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices, while the resort’s main restaurants give you more than one way to approach dinner when you are hungry enough to regard a buffet as a tactical advantage.

Oasys serves international buffet meals outdoors in an air-conditioned setting for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mirto covers breakfast and dinner with an international buffet and assigned tables, adding a panoramic setting. Stella di Mare is an à la carte restaurant for guests in the Selected area, serving lunch and dinner. Access to some restaurants depends on the board arrangement you book, so the treatment attached to your room matters here.

The resort lists a total of seven restaurants and six bars in its accommodation information, while the named venues include the beachside Bar Nettuno and Chiosco Notteri for snacks and refreshments. Caffetteria delle ville is reserved for villa guests. The food side also brings a broad choice of wines, desserts and cheeses, and half-board includes water, house wine and draught beer with meals.

Two pools divide the day neatly: an Olympic-size pool for proper lengths or a cooling swim, and a separate children’s pool. At the beach, sun loungers, parasols and towels are available, with Bar Nettuno and Chiosco Notteri close enough to prevent a full expedition for a drink.

The spa provides massages, facials, a sauna and sensory showers, with a relaxation area and spa facilities for a slower afternoon. A fitness area and fitness classes cover those who still want to move, while five tennis courts, a golf course within 3 km and cycling give the resort a more active edge. Kayaking and boat excursions are also available on site, with water sports arranged separately.

Evenings are not left to the television. The programme includes cabaret and musical shows, live performances, themed dinners and other entertainment, while the games room, table tennis and mini golf offer less strenuous options. For families, the kids’ club and children’s entertainment create their own rhythm, leaving adults a chance to use the spa, sit by the pool or eat a meal without negotiating with a small committee.

Cagliari Elmas Airport is around 39 miles away by road, and an airport shuttle is available through the resort. You can also use the free private parking nearby, with an electric-vehicle charging station available. Car hire, a concierge, luggage storage, an on-site cash machine and a 24-hour front desk make the arrival and departure mechanics fairly easy to organise.

Check-in starts at 16:00 and check-out is by 10:00. You need photo identification and a credit card at check-in, and the resort asks you to provide your expected arrival time in advance. Children of all ages are welcome, cots can be requested for children aged up to two, and pets are allowed.

Free WiFi is available in the public areas, while the resort also lists WiFi across its hotel services. Special diets include gluten-free options, packed lunches can be arranged, and an infirmary is available on site. Beach services are booked separately at the resort or in advance through the hotel, so factor that into the practical side of a beach-based stay.

VOI Tanka Village is certified by GSTC, the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. That certification gives the resort a recognised sustainability framework rather than a vague green label.

The setting also places you beside the protected marine area of Capo Carbonara, where diving is possible through local operators. For you, that keeps the environmental point grounded in the place itself: the sea outside the resort is not simply scenery for the restaurant terrace.
