Shark Dive Xtreme

Located in the heart of Sydney, Shark Dive Xtreme provides a unique way to experience marine life through the SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium. Rather than heading out to open water, this experience brings the ocean to you, allowing for close-up encounters with several apex predators in a managed setting.

The aquarium is situated near major transport hubs like Town Hall and Wynyard stations, making it easily accessible from the CBD. It serves as a major hub for marine education and conservation in Australia, housing over 4,000 animals from more than 300 different species.

The facility is accredited by the Zoo and Aquarium Association, reflecting a professional approach to animal husbandry and visitor safety. Their work is supported by the SEA LIFE Trust, which manages various conservation initiatives including coral conservation and species breeding programmes.

While the centre focuses on immersive experiences and educational encounters rather than traditional dive training, the staff are dedicated to conservation efforts. These include projects such as the Southern Pygmy Perch and Seahorse breeding programmes, as well as the StAR Project.

The shark valley exhibit is the focal point of the experience, where you can observe Grey Nurse Sharks, Port Jackson sharks, wobbegong sharks, and epaulette sharks. These encounters are conducted without a cage, allowing for a more natural view of these species.

Beyond the sharks, the marine life includes giant stingrays and various species of rays. You can also find turtles and a wide array of tropical reef fish navigating the exhibits.

The aquarium also hosts a diverse range of other marine animals, including a rescue dugong and several penguin species such as King penguins and Gentoo penguins. These are part of the Penguin Expedition exhibits.
