Ra Divers is situated at the Volivoli Beach Resort on the northern edge of Viti Levu, Rakiraki. This location provides a strategic gateway to the Bligh Waters, an area widely regarded as the soft coral capital of the world. You are positioned perfectly to explore a vast array of marine environments, from shallow reef flats to deep, dramatic walls.

The centre has been a fixture of the Fijian diving scene for decades, managed by the Darling family since 1993. This long-standing presence ensures a deep understanding of the local currents, seasonal shifts, and the specific nuances of the ninety-plus sites available in the immediate vicinity.

The operation is built on a foundation of local expertise and family management, providing a professional atmosphere for both recreational and specialty divers. All instruction and dive operations are conducted in English, ensuring clear communication for international divers.

Beyond standard diving, the centre offers specialised ecological training. You can enrol in specific courses such as Sea Turtle Ecology, Shark Ecology, or Manta and Ray Ecology, which are designed to deepen your understanding of the local pelagic and reef species.

The training programme covers the full spectrum of diver certification. You can begin your journey with introductory courses and progress through to advanced levels, including Divemaster training.

For those looking to specialise, the centre offers several ecology-focused courses. These include Sea Turtle Ecology, Shark Ecology, and Manta and Ray Ecology, providing a more scientific approach to your underwater experiences.

The centre operates a modern fleet of seven boats specifically designed for diving and fishing. These vessels are powered by reliable Suzuki 300HP or 140HP outboard motors, ensuring efficient transit to the various dive sites across the Bligh Waters.

Depending on the specific model, boat capacity ranges between 12 and 20 divers. The boats are well-equipped for comfort and safety, featuring robust dive ladders, marine toilets, and complete electronic navigation systems. For those enjoying sunset cruises, sofas are provided on board for relaxation.

Full rental kit is available directly from the dive shop on site, allowing you to travel light. This includes essential equipment such as regulators, BCDs, and exposure suits.

The centre is set within a luxury resort, meaning you have access to high-end facilities including changing rooms and showers to rinse your kit after a day in the ocean.

The Bligh Waters are home to a staggering array of marine life, including over 2,300 species of fish. You will regularly encounter sea turtles, sharks, rays, mantas, and rotating dolphins in these waters.

The hard and soft coral structures provide a vibrant backdrop, with soft corals being a particular highlight of the region. You can also find various gorgonians decorating the reef walls and seafloors.

For macro enthusiasts, the House Reefs and surrounding systems offer excellent opportunities. Keep an eye out for nudibranchs, octopuses, shrimps, and various crustaceans among the reef crevices.

Small, specialised inhabitants such as frogfish, seahorses, and various species of anemones add further interest to the shallower reef flats and coral heads.

The best time to visit the region is during the dry season from May to November. During this period, the weather is generally more stable, though currents can vary significantly depending on which site in the Bligh Waters you are visiting.

You should be aware that the wet season, from November to April, carries a higher risk of cyclones. Diving conditions are most predictable during the drier months when the seasonal patterns are most established.
