The centre is deeply committed to environmental stewardship, engaging in reef monitoring and scientific partnerships. They actively support conservation through carbon offsetting via tree planting initiatives, ensuring that your presence in the lagoon contributes to its long-term protection.

The waters around Noumea offer incredible opportunities to encounter large pelagics. You can observe various sharks, including the Grey reef shark (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos) and the Whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus), alongside Eagle rays (Aetobatus) and Sea turtles (Cheloniidae).

In the lagoon, you will frequently encounter a variety of reef fish, such as humphead wrasses, giant groupers, and various species of trevally and goatfish. Surgeonfish (Acanthuridae) and Moray eels (Muraenidae) are also common residents of the reef.

September is a particularly significant month for those hoping to witness whales during their seasonal presence in the area.

For those interested in smaller life, the region supports a variety of Nudibranchs, including Chromodoris willani, alongside various crustaceans and other macro life.
