Fatboys Resort Dive Center

Fatboys Resort Dive Center is situated in Gizo, serving as a gateway to the exceptional diving opportunities found within the Solomon Islands. The area is renowned for its untouched reefs and the sheer variety of marine life that inhabits the local waters.

The reefs are a riot of colour, dominated by healthy coral formations including sea fans, sea whips, and various fan corals. You will find these structures providing a complex habitat for a vast array of reef fish and larger marine creatures.

In the open water, you may encounter significant pelagics, including Manta ray (Mobula alfredi) and Eagle ray (Aetobatus), as well as spotted eagle rays. Large schools of trevally and big-eyed trevally often move through the area, alongside various shark species such as the Reef shark (Carcharhinus) and Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda).

Smaller inhabitants are just as diverse, with clownfish (Amphiprion) living amongst sea anemones (Actiniaria). Turtles and various rays (Batoidea) are also part of the regular local fauna, often seen cruising the reef flats or sandy patches.

For those with an eye for detail, the macro life is extensive. You can find Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani) and various other macro creatures tucked into the reef structure, alongside pufferfishes and lionfish (Pterois volitans).
