How long is your layover?

2 hrs

It works if you stay in the same terminal both have separate access routes.

  • PTP has two terminals, T1 and T2, with separate access routes. No shuttle between them is mentioned.
  • The airport operator publishes no minimum connection time.
  • Check the terminal for your second flight before relying on a short connection: nothing indicates a direct airside link between T1 and T2.

2–5 hrs

Free Wi-Fi, information and cash machines the rest is better suited to passing time than settling in.

  • Free Wi-Fi is available in the terminal.
  • You have an information point and a courtesy telephone offering one minute of communication, as well as “My chair” seats for passengers with reduced mobility, subject to conditions.
  • Vending machines are in T1, level 0, and there is a bureau de change; their services are chargeable, as usual.
  • Paid facilities include baggage wrapping, the business-area meeting room and arcade games in the departure lounge.
  • Two lounges exist Air France in T1 and an Air Caraïbes business/VIP lounge but nothing confirms access to either on a pay-as-you-go basis.

5–10 hrs

  • No city tour organised from the airport for transit passengers is documented.

10 hrs +

  • If your layover requires a night, book in Pointe-à-Pitre beforehand and arrange your own transfer.

What catches travellers out

If your arrival and departure are not in the same terminal, allow plenty of time: no direct airside link between T1 and T2 is documented.

Leaving the terminal means crossing a real border

Guadeloupe is outside Schengen, so a European passport does not exempt you from border control when leaving the international zone.

The diver’s reflex

There is a dedicated desk for oversized baggage

PTP has a specific process for bulky baggage counter 42 in Terminal 1 and counter 62 in Terminal 2 intended for surfboards, bicycles and pushchairs. Your longer dive bags belong there too: take them directly to this desk rather than the standard check-in counter.

Spare batteries: cabin baggage, protected, never above 160 Wh

The rules applied at PTP follow the IATA standard: spare batteries must travel in cabin baggage, while devices with an integrated battery may travel in the hold if switched off and protected, and nothing above 160 Wh is accepted.
