Located on the south shore of Kauai, Dive Kauai Scuba Center serves as a gateway to the island's unique underwater topography. The area is defined by its dramatic volcanic history, offering a landscape of submerged lava tubes, rocky outcrops, and vibrant reef flats.

Operating out of the Small Boat Harbor in Poipu and Koloa Landing, the centre specialises in exposing divers to the endemic species and geological features that make Hawaiian diving distinctive. Whether you are exploring shallow nurseries or navigating through lava formations, the focus remains on local ecology and conservation.

The team is comprised of professional PADI instructors chosen for their technical knowledge and commitment to marine biology. They integrate local Hawaiian history and conservation principles into their briefings, ensuring you understand the environment you are visiting.

The centre is a PADI affiliated operation, offering everything from initial certifications to professional-level training. Their approach is built on a foundation of environmental stewardship, aiming to protect the delicate reef ecosystems of the islands.

The centre provides a complete range of PADI training programmes. Beginners can start with the Open Water Diver course, while those looking to expand their skills can progress through the Advanced Open Water Diver certification.

Professional training is also available for those pursuing a career in diving, with courses ranging from Divemaster to Master Scuba Diver Trainer.

The centre operates small-group boat excursions with a maximum capacity of 6 divers per trip. This small group size allows for more personalised guidance and easier manoeuvring near the reef and lava structures.

These trips include night dives, where you can observe the bioluminescent plankton that lights up the water column.

Full equipment hire is available on-site, covering everything from BCDs and regulators to wetsuits, masks, fins, and snorkels. For those undertaking night dives, torches are provided.

For boat-based excursions, the centre also provides DSMBs and dive computers to ensure safety and standard buoyancy control practices.

The reefs are home to a constant presence of Hawaiian green sea turtles, alongside large populations of triggerfish, Surgeonfish (Acanthuridae), Parrotfish (Calotomus), and Butterflyfish (Chaetodon). You will also frequently encounter various species of moray eel (Muraenidae).

For those interested in macro life, the crevices and reef structures host frogfish (Antennarius), scorpionfish, and various octopus species. Small crustaceans, including shrimp and lobster, can often be found tucked into the reef architecture.

In the water column and near the bottom, you may also spot pufferfish and various species of reef fish including surgeonfish and parrotfish.

The diving environment in Poipu is characterised by a variety of topographies, from shallow reef flats to deeper lava tubes. Night diving is a specific feature of the local offerings, particularly for observing bioluminescent plankton.
