Explore Kauai Scuba, LLC is a family-operated dive centre located at Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor in Kekaha. The centre focuses on the exceptional marine life found around Kauai and the nearby island of Ni’ihau.

They operate with a strong commitment to ecological responsibility, utilising eco-friendly engines and maintaining minimal waste management practices. This approach ensures that the local biodiversity you come to see remains protected for the future.

The team is led by instructors Nick and Jessie, who bring a deep passion for local marine biodiversity to every excursion. They provide instruction in English and focus on creating an intimate diving experience.

To maintain a high standard of safety and personal attention, they keep group sizes small, with a maximum of 6 divers per guide. This ensures you receive dedicated instruction whether you are a beginner or an advanced diver.

The centre is a PADI affiliated facility offering a full range of certifications. You can begin your training with PADI courses ranging from beginner to advanced levels.

They provide specialized instruction for those looking to advance their skills beyond basic open water competencies.

The centre operates a 28-foot Parker with a deep V-hull, powered by twin 300hp motors for efficient transit. This vessel is designed to handle the local conditions while providing a stable platform for your dives.

The boat accommodates a maximum of 6 passengers and features a closed cabin to offer shelter from the wind and sun. On board, you will find toilets, a freshwater rinse station, and refreshments including water, juice, fruit, cheese, hummus, guacamole, tortilla chips, biscuits, and crackers.

A full range of rental equipment is provided with every booking, including BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, cylinders, weights, fins, masks, snorkels, and dive computers.

After your dives, you can use the freshwater rinsing facilities located at the harbour to clean your kit.

The waters around Kauai are home to significant pelagics. You may encounter reef sharks, manta rays, and large predatory fish, including yellowfin tuna, skipjack tuna, ono, sailfish, swordfish, and marlins.

During the season from late October to late May, you can observe humpback whales, with peak activity occurring between mid-January and late March. Sea turtles are also frequently seen around the reef.

For those interested in macro life, the area hosts octopus, lobsters, and various crustaceans. You can also find nudibranchs and smaller reef inhabitants like shrimp.

Diving around Kauai involves varied conditions depending on the site. The Mana Crack area on the Na Pali Coast is known for intense physical currents.

Between late October and late May, the season is optimal for observing humpback whales in the area.
