Garden Isle Divers

Located on the island of Kauai, Garden Isle Divers provides a specialised approach to diving in the Hawaiian Islands. The centre operates with a focus on small groups, ensuring that every diver receives the attention required for a safe and rewarding experience under the surface.

You can choose between shore diving at Koloa Landing or heading out on the Surface Interval, a 29-foot dive boat. This flexibility allows you to explore the diverse habitats of the island, from shallow reef flats to deeper offshore sites.

The centre is operated by Eric, a professional instructor and guide, and Carrie, the boat captain. This partnership allows for a highly personalised service, with a focus on marine biology to enhance your understanding of the local ecosystem.

They maintain a low diver-to-guide ratio, with a maximum of 6 divers per guide on boat trips. This ensures that even in a small group, the instruction and guidance remain focused and individualised.

As a PADI affiliated centre, they offer a full range of courses from the Open Water Diver level through to Divemaster. These programmes provide a structured path for those looking to progress through their certifications.

For divers with specific objectives, the centre also provides bespoke training programmes on demand. This allows you to tailor your learning to your personal goals and experience level.

The Surface Interval is a 29-foot dive boat designed to carry up to 6 passengers. It provides a comfortable platform for your excursions, with snacks and drinks provided on board during your trip.

Boat dives are available for certified divers, though the vessel can also be chartered for private trips. These private charters can include non-divers for snorkeling, allowing the whole group to enjoy the ocean.

Full kit is included in the price of all boat dives, so you do not need to worry about bringing your own equipment for these trips. This includes all the necessary gear required to complete your dives.

For those preferring to dive from the shore, the centre can provide the necessary equipment for your outing.

The reefs around Kauai are home to a diverse array of tropical fish and larger marine life. You can expect to encounter green sea turtles, various species of moray eel (Muraenidae), and various reef sharks, including the whitetip reef shark. Other notable residents include the black angelfish, octopus, and various types of conch.

For those interested in macro life, the area is excellent for finding nudibranchs. You may also spot frogfish (Antennariidae) and scorpionfish (Scorpaena) amongst the reef structures.

In the surrounding waters, you may also encounter dolphins and various tropical reef fish.

Ocean conditions can vary depending on the specific location and swell. In certain areas, the swell can become quite agitated, so it is worth checking the local conditions before heading out.
