Aloha Maui Diving

Aloha Maui Diving operates out of Lahaina, providing a gateway to some of the most diverse reef systems in Hawaii. Since its establishment in 2020, the centre has become an integral part of the local community, actively supporting reef conservation through partnerships with The Nature Conservancy Maui and the Ocean Defenders Alliance Maui.

The centre focuses on shore diving, offering an intimate way to experience the island's marine environments. Whether you are looking for a relaxed reef flat exploration or the added propulsion of a DPV (scooter) dive, the programmes are designed to be flexible and professional.

The team is composed of experienced instructors providing training across PADI, SSI, and Avelo agencies. They maintain a strict instructor-to-diver ratio, ensuring that no more than 4 divers are in a single group at any time.

Beyond technical instruction, the centre is deeply committed to the local ecosystem. They promote reef-safe practices, such as the use of non-toxic sunscreens and strict non-contact policies with marine life, to ensure the long-term health of the Maui reefs.

The training catalogue is extensive, catering to everyone from those taking their first breaths underwater to advanced divers. You can complete your Open Water Diver or Advanced Open Water Diver certifications, or progress through the Rescue Diver and Divemaster programmes.

Specialised training is also available, including Nitrox certification, buoyancy control, and drift diving. For those interested in more technical or niche skills, they offer DPV (scooter) diving, night diving, and marine ecology courses through Project AWARE.

For those travelling without their own kit, the centre provides full equipment hire, including regulators, BCDs, wetsuits, fins, masks, snorkels, computers, and torches for night dives. Weights and dive flags are also available.

On-site facilities include cylinder filling services, with Nitrox available for divers looking to extend their bottom time. The centre is located in the former Westside Air building, providing a reliable base for your diving activities.

The reefs are teeming with life, ranging from colourful reef fish to larger pelagics. You will regularly encounter green turtles, moray eels, octopus, and various species of barracuda. Larger residents such as whitetip reef sharks, dolphins, and monk seals are also part of the local ecosystem.

During certain times of the year, the area becomes even more dynamic. You may see eagle rays or, during the whale season, encounter the incredible presence of migrating whales.

For macro enthusiasts, the sites offer plenty of detail to observe. Keep an eye out for nudibranchs and various sea slugs tucked into the reef structure, as well as octopus hiding in the crevices.

Diving on Maui is possible year-round, though seasonal variations will affect the local marine life and water conditions. The shore entries vary in ease, with Olowalu being noted as particularly accessible for those entering from the beach.
