The area is defined by an incredible concentration of maritime history, with over 80 wrecks and artificial reefs scattered throughout the local waters.

You can expect to spend your days exploring everything from shallow, coral-encrusted barges to deep, technical wrecks. The centre is uniquely positioned as the only operator permitted to access the northern quadrant of Biscayne National Park, offering a level of access that is rare for the region.

This family-run business has been an industry leader for more than 40 years. As a state-licensed scuba university, the centre provides a professional environment for both recreational divers and those pursuing professional instructor paths.

Beyond standard training, the centre is one of only nine PADI Adaptive facilities in the nation. This commitment to accessibility allows them to provide specialized support for divers with special needs, ensuring that the ocean is accessible to people of all abilities.

The centre also maintains strong scientific ties, partnering with the University of Miami for coral restoration, shark tagging programmes, and the Rescue a Reef initiative. Their multi-lingual crew and experienced captains ensure that every trip is handled with local expertise.

The centre offers a comprehensive range of PADI courses catering to every stage of a diver's progression. Beginners can start with the Open Water Diver course, while those looking to expand their skills can pursue Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, and various specialty certifications.

For those interested in the technical side of the sport, the centre provides training in Technical Diving and specialized courses such as the PADI AWARE Self Reliant Diver. They also offer niche specialties including Wreck Diver, Drift Diver, Night Diver, and Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) training.

Professional divers can work towards their career goals through the Instructor Development Course (IDC) and the Junior Divemaster programme. The centre also focuses on environmental and skill-based education with courses like AWARE Shark Conservation, Underwater Navigator, and Fish ID.

The centre operates two custom Newton dive boats, which are specifically designed for the requirements of scuba diving and snorkeling in Miami. These vessels are built with a wide beam and an open-concept design to provide easy access to the water and a stable platform for divers.

On board, you will find shaded areas and an upper deck for relaxing between dives. The boats are well-equipped for comfort, featuring heated showers, a bathroom, refreshments, and a dedicated area for dry bags. Whether you are heading out for a reef excursion, a wreck trek, or a night dive, these boats are configured to handle the daily variety of South Florida diving.

The shore-based facilities are designed to support both training and expedition preparation. Divers can make use of the on-site amenities including kit-rinsing areas and changing facilities.

Nitrox is available for those looking to extend their bottom times on the many wrecks in the area. For those looking to upgrade their kit, the shop offers various equipment options, and purchasing a Nitrox computer can sometimes include a complimentary class.

The reefs and wrecks of Miami are teeming with a wide variety of tropical fish. You will regularly encounter schooling fish, snapper, grouper, and hogfish, alongside larger pelagic visitors like barracuda, jacks, and amberjack.

Macro life and crustaceans are abundant throughout the area, particularly around the many ledges and wreck structures. Keep a sharp eye out for spiny lobsters, moray eels, octopus, squid, and various invertebrates like arrow crabs and small critters.

For those interested in larger species, nurse sharks and occasional sharks are seen around the reefs. You may also spot stingrays on the sandy bottom or guitar fish near the wrecks.

The marine scenery is defined by a rich tapestry of hard and soft corals, including gorgonians and sponges, which provide a vibrant backdrop for every dive.

Miami offers diving opportunities year-round, benefiting from its proximity to the Bahamas and the Gulf Stream. The water conditions remain relatively stable throughout the seasons.

While many sites are relaxed, certain areas like The Cascades are known for being particularly favourable for drift diving when the current is in your favour. Some deeper wrecks, such as the Narwal or the Deep Freeze, can be subject to strong currents, requiring more experienced handling.
