Conch Republic Divers

Located in Tavernier, just south of Key Largo and at the northern edge of Islamorada, Conch Republic Divers operates out of the Tavernier Creek Marina at mile marker 90.8. This central position allows for efficient access to some of the most diverse diving in the Florida Keys, covering a massive area of reef and wreck sites.

The centre provides a gateway to the primary reef systems and numerous shallow patch reefs that characterise this region. Whether you are looking for the structured complexity of a wreck or the vibrant life of a coral reef, the proximity to these sites ensures minimal transit time and maximum bottom time.

As a PADI 5 Star dive centre, Conch Republic Divers maintains high standards of training and safety. They offer instruction through multiple affiliations, including NAUI, SSI, and SDI, ensuring a broad range of certification options for their divers.

The team is known for a diligent and friendly approach, prioritising a professional atmosphere on the water. They specialise in both private and semi-private instruction, which allows for a more tailored learning experience during training courses.

The training programme is comprehensive, covering every level from Discover Scuba Diving through to Divemaster. They offer all the core PADI courses, including Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, and Rescue Diver.

For those looking to specialise, the centre provides a variety of specialty courses. These include Nitrox, Wreck, and the 1-day or 2-day specialty formats, alongside Emergency First Responder and CPR training.

Macro life and smaller inhabitants are abundant around the wrecks and reef structures. Divers often encounter Spanish lobsters, queen conchs, and various species of parrotfish, such as midnight parrotfish and rainbow parrotfish.

Larger residents are also a regular feature of the area. It is common to see sea turtles, yellowtail, and the occasional Goliath grouper patrolling the deeper sections of the wrecks and reefs.

Diving in this region can involve varying conditions depending on the specific site. Some wrecks, such as the Duane, are known to experience strong currents that require more advanced buoyancy control.

Most of the primary reef sites are located within a 20 to 50-minute boat ride from the marina, offering a range of depths and environments from shallow patch reefs to deeper wreck sites.
