Abyss Fuerteventura

Located in Corralejo on the island of Fuerteventura, Abyss Fuerteventura provides access to the diverse marine environments of the Canary Islands. The centre is a founding member of the AMABU (Asociación Majorera de Buceo) and is officially approved by the government of the Canary Islands.

Whether you are looking to complete your first certification or are a seasoned diver seeking exploration dives, the centre operates with a focus on small groups. This ensures a more personal approach to every dive, whether you are exploring the local reef flats or heading out on a boat trip.

The centre is run by the Mackay family, including Simon, Hannah, and their son Archie. Simon is a RAID Master Instructor and PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer with extensive international experience, including time spent diving in Thailand, Vietnam, and Greece. Hannah serves as a PADI Assistant Instructor.

Instruction is provided in both English and Spanish. The team places a heavy emphasis on safety and recommends a refresher dive for any diver who has not been in the water for at least six months. They also advocate for the use of dive insurance and are committed to the preservation of the local marine environment.

Abyss Fuerteventura offers a comprehensive range of training through both PADI and RAID affiliations. For beginners, they provide Discover Scuba Diving and the Bubblemaker programme, leading into PADI Open Water Diver and RAID Open Water certifications.

Advanced training is extensive, covering PADI Advanced Open Water, RAID Explorer 30, and PADI Rescue Diver. The centre also caters to those pursuing professional paths with PADI Divemaster and RAID Divemaster courses, as well as PADI Master Scuba Diver training. Specialty courses are available, including Digital Underwater Photography and various other PADI Specialty courses, alongside Emergency First Response and RAID First Aid training.

The centre provides high-quality kit for hire, including new wetsuits, regulators, fins, and masks. For those planning night dives, torches are available to rent.

On the boat, the team provides juice and cookies for divers to enjoy between sessions. For those travelling from outside the Corralejo area, collection services are available.

The marine life around Corralejo is varied, with octopus being a regular resident of the local reefs and rocky structures. Divers may also encounter the angelshark, a sought-after species in these waters.

For those with an interest in macro life, the seabed and crevices offer plenty to observe. Keep a keen eye on the substrate for various small crustaceans and cephalopods that inhabit the area.
