Finca Marina BuenVivir suits divers who prefer a base with character over a large, busy resort. You can make coffee, eat at your own table, sit outside with the view and let the day wind down at its own pace. There is free WiFi throughout the property and free private parking on site. That combination matters on La Palma: you can keep your plans flexible, and a hire car has somewhere to go when the next shore, restaurant or trail is not around the corner.

You are in Tazacorte, Spain, on a hill just outside the town centre. Puerto de Tazacorte Beach is about 2.5 miles away by road, around six minutes by car. Bombilla Beach is about 5 miles by road, while El Charcón Beach and Nueva Beach are around 5 and 6 miles away respectively. In other words, a car will make beach-hopping considerably less philosophical.

For a change of scenery on land, Parque Conrado Hernández is about 2.5 miles away by road, and Caldera de Taburiente National Park is around 5 miles away. Bars and restaurants sit around 1 to 1.5 miles away by road, including Bar San Borondon, Bar Baganete, Bar Gorgonia, Venezia, Re-Belle and Pizzeria La Locanda.

The apartments are the natural choice for a couple who want more than a bed and a bathroom. Each has a kitchenette with a refrigerator, stovetop, toaster, kettle, coffee machine and kitchenware, plus a dining area and a sitting area with a sofa. That gives you somewhere to put breakfast, a plate of fruit or the meal you assemble when restaurant clothes are not on the agenda.

Choose the sea-view apartment if the outlook is part of the reason for coming. The balcony and terrace options put the emphasis on outdoor sitting instead, while the studio with terrace is the compact option for a solo traveller. The bungalows are better suited to two couples or a small group: the two-bedroom bungalow has two bathrooms, and the larger sea-view bungalow gives you more space to spread out.

Every unit has a private bathroom with shower or bath, towels, linen, a wardrobe and a hairdryer. A fireplace adds a proper home-like note, while the private entrance, terrace or balcony and garden views make the accommodation feel separate from a standard hotel corridor. Flat-screen television and WiFi are there for the occasional evening when the Atlantic has won the argument and the sofa is the only sensible destination.

The property’s dining selection covers lunch and dinner rather than a formal breakfast-led hotel routine. The main after-dive move is the heated saltwater outdoor pool, set up with sun loungers and umbrellas. It comes with the same elevated outlook as the lodge, so you can trade your mask for a book and keep the sea in sight without having to walk back to the beach.

The garden and spacious terrace provide the rest of the rhythm. Outdoor furniture and a dining area make it possible to take coffee or a meal outside, while the individual accommodation gives you somewhere to retreat when conversation has run out before the day has.

Hiking is available in the surrounding area, with Parque Conrado Hernández and Caldera de Taburiente National Park both within reach by car. For couples, that creates a useful split: one day can be a trail and a long lunch, the next can be pool, terrace and absolutely no timetable.

La Palma Airport is about 10 miles from the property, roughly a 30-minute drive. There is no airport shuttle service listed, so arranging your onward transport matters; free private parking on site makes a hire car a practical option for the airport run, beaches, restaurants and walking routes.

Check-in runs from 15:00 to midnight, and check-out is from midnight to 11:00. The property is for adults: children are not accepted, cots and extra beds are not available, and the minimum age for check-in is 18.
