Lagos Divers

Located in the heart of Lagos, Algarve, Lagos Divers operates as a PADI 5 Star IDC centre. The centre is positioned to provide easy access to the diverse marine environments of the Portuguese coast, catering to both those looking for their first breath underwater and seasoned professionals.

As an Instructor Development Centre (IDC), the team is geared towards high-level education. They offer the full spectrum of PADI training, including Divemaster and instructor-level courses, ensuring a professional standard of instruction for all students.

The staff is comprised of qualified, certified, and motivated instructors. Whether you are completing an Open Water Diver course or working through the TecRec programme, the focus remains on safety and professional standards.

The training catalogue is extensive, covering everything from Discover Scuba Diving and Open Water Diver through to Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver. For those looking to progress into the professional ranks, the centre offers Divemaster and IDC programmes.

Technical diving is also supported through TecRec courses. Additionally, the centre provides Nitrox Instructor training and Emergency First Response Instructor certifications.

Daily dive trips are organised to local landmarks, including the rock formations of Ponta da Piedade and the Ocean Revival Park wreck. For those seeking a more tailored experience, private dive trips are available on Sundays. These private excursions allow you to choose your own destination and itinerary, with equipment, transport, and refreshments included.

The centre provides a complete range of equipment for hire, allowing you to dive without transporting your own kit. They also offer on-site maintenance and retail services for those looking to purchase or service their own gear.

Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their bottom time. The facility is equipped to support various training needs, from recreational to technical diving.

The local waters are home to a variety of larger species. You can often spot great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda) patrolling the area, alongside sea bass and sea bream (Sparidae). Moray eels (Muraenidae) and conger eels (Congridae) are frequently found amongst the rocky crevices.

For those with an eye for macro life, the area offers plenty to see. Look out for octopus (Octopus vulgaris), cuttlefish (Sepiidae), and various nudibranchs. Scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae) often camouflage themselves against the reef, while seahorses (Hippocampus kuda) can be found in more sheltered spots.

Crustaceans and other small inhabitants are also common, including crabs (Brachyura) and lobsters (Homaridae). Sea urchins and various species of sea bass add to the biodiversity of the seabed.

The diving in the Algarve is subject to local Atlantic conditions. Divers should be aware of the swell and currents when planning trips to the wreck or the Ponta da Piedade formations.
