Mero DIving Center Madeira

Mero Diving Center is situated in Caniço, positioned directly within the Garajau Partial Nature Reserve. This protected area is one of the most significant marine environments in Portugal, known for its exceptionally clear waters and high concentration of marine life.

The centre serves as a base for exploring both the immediate local reefs and further afield. You can choose to dive the sheltered, high-visibility waters of the reserve or head out on excursions to the wrecks located around Porto Santo.

The team at Mero Diving Center consists of five instructors capable of managing divers ranging from beginners to professionals. They provide guidance for various skill levels, ensuring that whether you are doing your first breath underwater or are an experienced diver, the experience is tailored to your ability.

Services are provided in both English and Portuguese, making it straightforward for international divers to communicate their requirements and dive plans.

The local marine life is headlined by the presence of groupers, which are a signature species of the Garajau Partial Nature Reserve. These fish are frequently encountered by divers exploring the rocky areas and reef structures.

The surrounding waters support a healthy ecosystem where you can observe various species in their natural habitat. The clarity of the water in the reserve helps in spotting these pelagics and reef dwellers easily.
