Seaklub

Located in the Punta Cana region, Seaklub provides access to some of the most varied underwater landscapes in the Dominican Republic. From the shallow, sun-drenched reefs of Bávaro to the deeper, more challenging environments around Isla Catalina, the area offers a diverse playground for divers of all experience levels.

The centre operates across multiple locations, including Bayahibe, Cap Cana, La Romana, and Las Terrenas. This allows you to target specific environments, whether you are looking for the sheltered coral gardens of the reef flats or the more technical challenges of deep wrecks and underwater tunnels.

The team at Seaklub is composed of local and international instructors, providing a professional environment for both recreational training and guided explorations. They are PADI affiliated and focus on delivering personalised attention to their divers.

Instruction is available in both English and Spanish, ensuring clear communication for international divers. The centre also emphasises sustainable diving practices to help protect the local marine ecosystems they explore daily.

The centre offers a comprehensive PADI curriculum, starting with Discover Scuba Diving and Scuba Diver for those new to the water. They provide all core certifications, including Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver.

For those looking to specialise, Seaklub runs a variety of courses such as PADI Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, and Nitrox. They also offer specialized training in buoyancy control (Flotabilidad Perfecta), Rescue Diver, and Divemaster programmes, as well as EFR training.

The centre operates a sailing catamaran with a capacity for 12 people. This vessel is used for various excursions, including trips to Isla Catalina and Isla Saona, as well as night dives.

On board, you can expect a full Dominican lunch, along with water, soft drinks, beer, and rum. The catamaran setup is well-suited for longer trips where you want to enjoy the Caribbean breeze between dives.

Seaklub provides a full range of rental kit for divers who do not wish to carry their own equipment. This includes everything required for a complete dive, from regulators to wetsuits and fins.

Nitrox is available for use, making it a practical choice for those looking to extend their bottom time on multi-dive days or deeper excursions.

The reefs are teeming with colourful life, including parrotfish (Calotomus), sergeant majors, surgeonfish, trumpetfish (Aulostomidae), and various species of snapper (Lutjanus). You will frequently encounter groupers, moray eels (Muraenidae), and barracuda near the structures.

In the deeper sections and along the walls, you can find rays (Batoidea), spotted rays, and various reef sharks, such as reef sharks (Carcharhinus), white-tip sharks, and black-tip sharks. Sea turtles (Cheloniidae) are also a common sight throughout the region.

For those interested in macro life, the area hosts a variety of crustaceans including spiny lobster (Homaridae) and crabs (Brachyura). Look closely for octopus (Octopus vulgaris), starfish, and various colourful reef fish among the corals and sponges.

During certain times of the year, you may also encounter dolphins. If you are diving in Las Terrenas during the correct season, humpback whales can also be spotted in the area.

Currents in the area can vary from mild to moderate. While gentle currents are common, stronger flows can occur, which requires good buoyancy control and coordination within your buddy pair.

Visibility is generally excellent, reaching up to 30 metres in many locations, allowing for clear views of the reef structures and wrecks.
