The team at Dive Shop Maldives is comprised of experienced instructors and professional dive guides dedicated to small group instruction. To ensure safety and personalised attention, the centre maintains a maximum ratio of 4:1 divers per guide for regular dives, which is reduced to 2:1 for beginners or when conditions become more challenging.

Beyond standard recreational diving, the centre is committed to marine ecology. They conduct workshops on coral propagation, reef ecology, and sharks conservation, allowing divers to engage more deeply with the environment they are exploring. The staff are trained in emergency first response and the administration of emergency oxygen.

As an SSI affiliated centre, Dive Shop Maldives offers a complete range of training from the very beginning of your diving journey. This includes the Bubble Maker and Junior Open Water Diver programmes for younger divers, leading through to the standard Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water certifications.

The South Ari Atoll is famous for its large pelagics. You can expect to encounter manta rays, particularly from May to November, and whale sharks, which are most frequently seen between August and December. Other large species include eagle rays, reef sharks, white-tip reef sharks, and grey reef sharks, alongside schools of tuna and various species of turtles.

The reef itself is a vibrant ecosystem filled with life. You will see Napoleon wrasse, moray eels, large groupers, barracuda, and bigeye trevally. Schooling snappers and various species of perch are also common sights around the pinnacles and walls.

For those interested in macro life, the coral gardens and crevices offer plenty to explore. You can find frogfish, ghost pipefish, nudibranchs, lionfish, and lobsters tucked away in the reef structure. The seabed and coral formations are adorned with a variety of soft and hard corals, sea fans, and gorgonians.

The region offers different advantages depending on the season. From December to April, you can expect calmer seas and the best visibility. Between May and November, the presence of plankton blooms attracts significant numbers of manta rays and whale sharks.

Some sites, such as Fish Head, are known for having strong currents, which are essential for bringing nutrient-rich water to the pinnacles but require a certain level of experience to navigate safely.
