Divetime Mauritius

Divetime Mauritius is situated in Belle Mare, positioned on the beautiful east coast of the island. Since its establishment in 2006, the centre has become a staple of the local diving community, providing a base for both recreational exploration and professional training.

The centre operates in collaboration with the Emeraude Beach Attitude, offering a convenient setup for those looking to combine their diving with local accommodation. Whether you are looking for a guided reef safari or a technical progression, the centre's location serves as an ideal starting point for exploring the Mauritian marine environment.

The centre is an official PADI IDC Staff Instructor Centre, which signifies a high level of training capability. It was founded by Dev Koosul, a pioneer instructor in Mauritius with professional experience dating back to 1985.

As an IDC centre, the facility is equipped to handle everything from beginner Discover Scuba Diving programmes to professional Divemaster and Instructor training. This ensures that the instruction provided is consistent with global PADI standards while benefiting from decades of local knowledge.

The centre offers a comprehensive range of PADI courses for all levels of experience. For those new to the water, training begins with the Bubble Maker and Discover Scuba Diver programmes, progressing through to Open Water Diver and Scuba Diver certifications.

For more experienced divers, the curriculum includes Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster training. As an IDC centre, they also facilitate the professional path toward becoming a PADI instructor. The centre is also equipped to provide E.F.R. training.

The reefs around Belle Mare and the northern wrecks are home to a vibrant community of tropical reef fish. You will regularly see sergeant majors, convict tangs, and various species of butterflyfish (Chaetodon) navigating the coral. Wrasse (Labridae) and surgeonfish (Acanthuridae) are also common inhabitants of the reef structure.

Larger pelagic species and predators frequent the area, including trevally, bluefin trevally (Caranx melampygus), and various types of jacks. It is not uncommon to encounter barracuda (Sphyraena) or larger predators like tuna (Thunnus) passing through the deeper sections. You may also spot reef sharks, such as the blacktip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus) or the whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus).

For those interested in macro life, the crevices and reef flats host a variety of smaller creatures. Look out for nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani), leaf scorpionfish (Taenianotus triacanthus), and various species of boxfish (Ostraciidae) and pufferfish (Arothron hispidus). Moray eels (Muraenidae) are often found tucked into the reef architecture.

In the sandy areas and seagrass meadows, you might encounter stingrays (Myliobatiformes), turtles (Cheloniidae), and various species of grouper (Epinephelinae). Lobsters (Homaridae) also inhabit the more sheltered parts of the reef.
