Paradise Cove Boutique Hotel is an adults-only boutique resort built around a protected lagoon, with 75 rooms, plenty of places to sit together and an atmosphere aimed squarely at couples.

The design mixes dark wood, soft colours, traditional thatch and contemporary bathrooms. It is polished without being forced into the usual anonymous luxury-hotel mould. You have a choice of little corners for the day: the beach, the pools, the garden, the spa or the lagoon-facing Peninsula area.

This is a place for two, particularly if your idea of a good evening is a proper meal, a cocktail and live acoustic music rather than a children’s disco. The adults-only policy keeps the setting focused on grown-up holidays, and the hotel’s love nests add more private spots for doing very little together.

You are in Cap Malheureux, on the north coast of Mauritius, directly beside a protected lagoon. The hotel has direct access to a white-sand beach, with sun loungers, parasols, showers and a beach bar close at hand. Coconut trees and the water are part of the immediate geography, not a distant day-trip idea.

A mosquito net, minibar, tea and coffee-making facilities and a kettle take care of the small practicalities, while a sofa, seating area and desk give you somewhere other than the bed to sit. Peninsula Restaurant is the daytime option, serving Mediterranean cuisine at lunch and dinner on its lagoon-facing terrace. Half-board and higher meal plans include the Dine Around concept, allowing you to eat at The Dining Room, XO and Peninsula rather than treating the same dining room as a daily obligation. Breakfast is continental, and vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available.

There are six bars, so you do not need to wander far for a drink. The Beach Bar runs from 08:00 to 19:00; Peninsula Bar serves cocktails beside the infinity pool until 23:00; and Stay Bar remains open until 23:30. The Tea Bar deals in teas and refreshing drinks, the Rum Gallery keeps a selection of rums from Mauritius and further afield, and S’Cellar serves Southern Hemisphere wines from 15:30 to 22:00. There is also a minibar in the room, because sometimes the sensible distance to a drink is arm’s reach.

Two outdoor pools give you an alternative to the lagoon. The main pool has warm sand and loungers around it, while the adults-only infinity pool sits on a wooden deck with views towards the northern islands. Direct beach access adds the simpler option: a lounger, an umbrella and no timetable whatsoever.

The Spa works through the Beauty Rituals of the World concept, with massages, facials, a hammam, tropical flower baths and aroma baths. Couple’s treatments are available in an outdoor massage area overlooking the lagoon. For a more active afternoon, you can hire bicycles, join a bike tour to the Marine Discovery Centre or visit it as part of a cultural outing. Garden tours, local artist performances, cooking classes, local-culture tours, canoeing, windsurfing, snorkelling, tennis, billiards and darts add variety. At sunset, live acoustic music and the piano bar provide evening entertainment without requiring you to put on sports kit.

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport is about 42 miles away by road, with a driving time of around 49 minutes. An airport shuttle is available on request, and transfers can be arranged with the hotel in private or shared form. Car hire, free private parking and a 24-hour front desk make the arrival side reasonably straightforward.

Check-in starts at 14:00 and check-out is by 12:00. You need photo identification and a payment card at check-in, and the hotel needs your expected arrival time in advance. Luggage storage, a tour desk, currency exchange, a concierge and free WiFi throughout the hotel are available for the practical jobs that otherwise eat into holiday time.

The meal-plan choices run from room only and breakfast included through half-board, full board and Premium All-Inclusive. Dress is decent at mealtimes and casual yet elegant at dinner. Children are not allowed, the minimum check-in age is 18, and cots or extra beds are not available.

Natural mineral sunscreen is available, while blue net bags support coast and lagoon clean-ups. The hotel also avoids threatened or endangered seafood species and continues to develop its vegan offering.

The wider local connection is visible in the supply chain and the evening programme: 40% of food and drink has been sourced from Made in Moris-certified suppliers since June 2022, decorations are locally crafted, local flowers are used, and local artists perform regularly. That gives the sustainability policy something more useful than a plaque in reception.
