The resort sits directly on a sandy beach, with views across the Indian Ocean and the waters of Sainte Anne National Marine Park close by. Cerf Island itself is small, lush and lightly inhabited, so the setting feels more island retreat than conventional coastal hotel.

Couples will find the layout particularly easy to enjoy: a villa with its own outdoor space, a swim in the infinity pool, then dinner by the beach without having to organise an expedition. For a change of scene, Victoria Clock Tower, the Seychelles National Museum and the National Botanical Gardens are all around 3 miles away as the crow flies, across the water and on Mahé. The nearby bars and restaurants are also on Mahé, roughly 3 miles away by road-distance references. Cerf is the choice when the beach matters more than having a row of venues outside the gate.

The accommodation is built around private outdoor space rather than corridor living. Villas have balconies or terraces with seating, while the Hideaway Villa adds a private garden and the Hillside Villa comes with an open-air bathroom. That gives you somewhere to sit with a drink, dry off after a swim and watch the island settle down without sharing the view with half the resort.

For two people, the garden villa is the natural choice if you value your own patch of greenery; the hillside option suits you if an open-air bathroom is part of the appeal. Travelling with family or friends, the Two-Bedroom Suite keeps everyone under one roof while providing two bathrooms and a private balcony. It is the practical option for a group rather than a romantic villa designed for two.

Inside, air conditioning and a fan help take the edge off a warm, salty day. There is a minibar, tea and coffee-making equipment, a dining area, a sofa and a seating area, with satellite and cable television for the rare evening when the ocean loses the argument. Bathrooms include a bath or shower, bathrobes and a hairdryer; some accommodation has a garden view, and soundproof rooms are available. Daily housekeeping and room service make the return from the beach pleasantly uncomplicated.

The 1756 Restaurant works beside the beach and brings together Creole and international cooking. Breakfast is a buffet, with continental choices, while lunch includes light meals and à la carte dishes. Dinner is served there too, so you can keep the evening close to the sand rather than start looking for a restaurant on another island.

Once a week, the menu turns distinctly local with a Creole evening accompanied by live music. It is the sort of dinner that gives the stay a sense of place without requiring a lecture about it. A long-trouser dress code applies at the restaurant, worth remembering when your luggage has been packed around swimwear and rash vests.

The Pool Bar handles cocktails and light meals when you would rather not leave the water for long. Room service runs from 09:00 to 21:00, and breakfast can be brought to your room.
