Zavala is the sort of small Hvar village chosen for sea air rather than nightlife, and Hotel Skalinada fits that brief as a family-run hotel and restaurant on the island’s southern coast. Zavala Port Beach and Zavala Beach are both around half a mile away, so you have several stretches of coast within reach when you fancy a change of scenery.

This is a coastal village rather than a city address. Terra Nova – Beach & Cocktail Bar is only a few steps away, and Konoba Zavala is about three-quarters of a mile away on foot. For a wider outing, Gračišće is around 6 miles away and Grapčeva Cave around 10 miles; Stari Grad and the historic sites around it are roughly 6 miles away by road.

Split Airport is around 50 miles away by road, with the journey taking you well beyond a quick hop from the terminal. That matters when planning arrival and departure, particularly if you are carrying dive luggage rather than travelling with one obedient cabin bag.
