B&M Rab-Lopar

B&M Rab-Lopar is an aparthotel for divers who prefer a proper apartment to a standard hotel room. You have space to spread out, a kitchen for the meal you fancy, and a quiet hillside setting above Lopar rather than a corridor of identical rooms.

The property has six modern apartments across three floors, with views towards the pool, the garden or the sea depending on where you stay. English is spoken by the hotel team, alongside German and Croatian, so you will be understood on arrival and during your stay. German is also spoken by the management.

This is a practical base for a couple, a family or a small group who want their own living area and the freedom to organise the day themselves. The atmosphere is deliberately quiet: parties are not allowed, and quiet hours run from 23:00 to 07:00.

You stay in Lopar, Croatia, on a hill in the countryside not far from the ferry port. The elevated position brings the views; the trade-off is that the sea is reached on foot rather than from the property gate. Lopar Beach is about 0.4 miles away by road, with Sturić Beach around 0.7 miles and Crikvena Beach around 0.7 miles.

Paradise Beach and Livacina Beach are about 1.2 miles away by car. You can also reach Sv. Rok u Polju in roughly 0.7 miles and Punta zidine in about 1 mile. For dinner without moving the car, Konoba Ankora is about 0.2 miles away, Feral about 0.3 miles and Madonna about 0.5 miles.

Rijeka Airport is about 33 miles away by road, with a driving time of around two hours and twenty minutes. Losinj Airport is farther by road, at about 60 miles and roughly three hours and forty minutes.

The useful difference here is space. The apartments give you a separate living area with seating, a sofa bed and a dining area, so you are not trying to eat, dry off and plan tomorrow's dive on the same small surface. Private entrances add a little separation from the rest of the property, while balconies or terraces give you somewhere to sit outside.

Most apartments have two bedrooms with French double beds, plus a living room that can become a sleeping area. The family apartment has one bedroom with a French double bed and a second bedroom with bunk beds for two children, making it the sensible choice when the party includes younger divers. The apartments are recommended for four or five people, without overcrowding the space.

Each apartment has individually adjustable air conditioning and underfloor heating, useful after a hot day outside or during a cooler evening. Kitchens include a refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, hob, coffee machine, kettle and kitchenware. There is one private bathroom with a shower and toilet, along with towels, linen, a hairdryer and a clothes drying rack. Pool views are available on the ground floor, while some first-floor apartments look towards the pool and sea.

A cot and high chair can be arranged for younger children, subject to availability. WiFi covers the complex, and the apartments are non-smoking.

There is no hotel dining programme to organise your day around, so the kitchen becomes part of the appeal. You can make coffee before an early departure, keep drinks cold in the refrigerator and put together a proper meal when returning hungry from the water. The dishwasher is a small luxury when the alternative is washing plates while still thinking about your last dive.

Outside, the terraced garden has a covered summer terrace with a dining area, refrigerator, television and music. Barbecue facilities give you another way to handle dinner, with picnic spots and outdoor furniture for eating without retreating indoors.

For a meal out, Konoba Ankora is about 0.2 miles away, Feral about 0.3 miles and Madonna about 0.5 miles. The property works best for self-catering with nearby restaurants when you want someone else to deal with the evening meal.

The heated outdoor swimming pool is the natural landing point when the day's diving is finished. A broad pool area has sun loungers, umbrellas and an outdoor shower, giving you somewhere to cool down or simply lie flat and let the afternoon disappear. The garden adds space around the pool rather than turning the property into a packed resort.

For a quieter evening, take a seat on the covered summer terrace or use the barbecue area. There is also a shared lounge and TV area, while the on-site minimarket can save a trip when you need a few basics. A laundry room with a washing machine and dryer is available for shared use, which is particularly handy when several days of salt water have made the packing situation less philosophical.

Families have an outdoor play area with a swing and slide. Away from the property, Lopar's sandy beaches, natural bathing bays and water-based activities give non-diving companions something to do, while cycling and hiking are available in the surrounding area.

Free private parking is available directly in front of the property, with video surveillance. WiFi is free throughout the complex. Private check-in and check-out are available, and luggage storage is offered. A property manager is based in a separate annex with its own entrance and welcomes you on arrival.

Check-in runs from 16:00 to midnight, and you need to tell the property your expected arrival time. Check-out is by 10:00. Guests under 18 can check in only with a parent or official guardian, while the person checking in must be at least 18. Smoking is not allowed, pets are not accepted, and the quiet period is from 23:00 to 07:00.

Payment before arrival by bank transfer is required. Bring toilet paper for use beyond the first supply, kitchen cleaning items and charcoal if you plan to use the barbecue. Final cleaning, bed linen, bathroom towels, consumption costs and WiFi are included.
